Peter's chest heaved. "Mark's been with you for years. How could he make such a rookie mistake?"

York sat quietly on the sofa and turned on the TV.

He said casually, "Even the most careful person slips up. Mark is a man, not a god. Mistakes are inevitable."

Peter paced in frustration. "York, others might buy your act, but not me! I know you're cold and calculating, and you'll twist any situation to your advantage. But keep your schemes away from Claudia!"

York lowered his gaze, not taking the bait.

Peter declared, "I won't let you manipulate Claudia like this. I'll post her bail, get her out, and she's going to divorce you!"

Peter turned to leave.

York slowly rose. "This is my marriage, Peter. You have a choice here: be my brother, or be the man who interferes. If you choose to be that man, don't expect me to still be the brother you know."

Peter stopped and turned back.

He shouted emotionally at York, "York, Claudia and I were childhood friends too! She's your wife, but she's also like a sister to me. I won't let you destroy her like this!"

Peter slammed the door on his way out.

York walked to the living room's floor-to-ceiling window and stood there quietly for a long while.
