He said, "If, out of spite for me, you insist on abandoning your parents and your underage brother, trading ten years in prison for freedom in the latter half of your life, then I'll grant you your wish."
Claudia struggled to get up from the floor.
She swayed as she walked over to York.
She looked up at him.
As they looked at each other, Claudia's lips trembled. She looked at him as if he were a complete stranger.
She murmured, "York, are you a devil?"
Even if he didn't love her.
They had known each other for over twenty years.
And he was pushing her.
Leaving her no room to escape.
York stood before her, aloof and composed. "Claudia, you've been married to me for three years. I don't believe I've ever wronged you. There's no need for this display."
Claudia was incensed by his words.
She suddenly grabbed the collar of his shirt, her eyes red as she demanded, "You cheated on me first, then you plotted against me. You repeatedly forced me to compromise for the sake of the woman you love, even going so far as to hurt my brother. Is this what you call not wronging me?"
York replied nonchalantly, "None of this would have happened if you hadn't tried to divorce me."
Claudia laughed in fury. "So, I deserve to be betrayed by my husband? I deserve all of this?"
York's tone held a hint of impatience. "That wasn't a betrayal. That was my past. You're my wife, you should accept it."
Claudia erupted. "Why should I have to accept it?" she shrieked, pounding her fists against his chest. "Why me?!"
York grabbed the small of her back with one hand and the back of her head with the other, forcing her to look at him.
He said, "Claudia, you were the one who wanted to marry me. Since you chose me, you have to accept all of me."
Claudia struggled in his arms. "If I had known you had another woman you loved, I would have rather died than marry you!"
