No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 289

When Claudia came out of her clinic room, the hallway was empty. Both Rock and Ann were gone.

Mira whispered something in her ear, and a worried look slowly crept into Claudia's eyes.

Rock Sayer could be as immature as a toddler, but when he was in a foul mood, he was a psycho. While she considered herself relatively normal, she and Rock just clicked. She felt he was someone she could count on.

Back in her office, Claudia called Rock.

On the other end of the line, Rock was standing at the base of a giant pendulum ride at an amusement park. "Oh, you mean that ugly thing?" he said into the phone. "I can't be bothered with her."

He hung up, tilted his head back, and watched Ann screaming her head off on the ride, then casually cleaned out his ear.

"When that hag gets off this one," Rock said to the man beside him, "strap her onto the vertical drop coaster. And the bungee jump, the zip line, and that climbing wall. Make her climb it for me."

A few hours later, an ambulance pulled up to the hospital's emergency entrance.

Ann was carried out on a stretcher.

York, who had come looking for Claudia, happened to witness the scene.

Seeing York, Ann croaked out a hoarse, desperate plea for help.

A paramedic turned to York. "Are you a family member of the patient?"

From a short distance away, Mira spoke up before York could answer. "Doctor, I know them."

Mira gestured toward them. "Mr. Ferguson is the father of Miss James's child."

The doctor immediately blocked York's path, not letting him leave.

Over an hour later, Ann was admitted to a room. She was covered in scrapes and bruises, and her face was scratched up. Her voice was so hoarse she could barely speak.

York frowned as he looked at her. "What happened to you?"

Ann struggled to move, her hand reaching out to grab his sleeve. She was still trembling, unable to shake off the terror.
