No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 324

"It was the promise I made to Ann when she came back to the country," York admitted.

Peter's eyes blinked rapidly in frustration. "And what about the promise you made to Claudia when you married her?"

He stood across the coffee table, pointing at York. "You stood in front of Claudia and acknowledged Ann as your wife. What does that make Claudia?"

"She's my wife! She always has been!" York snapped, his composure finally cracking.

"York, you still won't admit it, will you?" Peter said, his voice dropping. "The only reason you bend over backward for Ann James and her son is because you've been taking your twenty-plus years with Claudia for granted. You're trading on her love for you."

"You knew that everything you did for them would hurt Claudia, but you did it anyway. That's why you're scared. That's why you feel guilty. You don't dare divorce her because you're terrified that the moment you let go, you'll never get another chance!"

Peter's voice was filled with a chilling certainty. "York, there's a special kind of hell for people who betray a true heart. Claudia is going to divorce you."

...

Long after Peter left, York remained lost in his thoughts.

His mind felt numb, his chest constricted as if caught in a vise, making it hard to breathe.

When Claudia returned from Portsborough, he would apologize properly. They would communicate. Whatever it took, he had to have a child with her, soon. A child was the most important bond between a husband and wife, a balm for their relationship, a shared responsibility. Once they had a child, Claudia would never think of divorce again. She would stay and build a life with him, for the child's sake.

And he would be better to her. He would make up for everything, shower her with love and happiness, just like when they first got married.

For the next three days, York was a shadow of himself, his thoughts constantly somewhere else.

In the CEO's office, Mark noticed his boss's distracted state and hesitantly approached. "Mr. Ferguson, your wife's flight from Portsborough lands at eight tonight."
