They drove home in complete silence.
Claudia went straight into the master bedroom and locked the door.
York stood outside the door, hesitating for a long moment.
He knocked. "Open the door. I'm out of clean towels in the other bathroom."
The door opened a crack, and Claudia tossed a towel out.
York reached for the handle, but the door was locked again.
He stood there in silence for a while before bending down to pick up the towel.
The next morning, at Hugh's law firm.
In a corner office with a 270-degree panoramic view, Hugh personally handed York a cup of coffee.
The two men were of similar height and dressed in a similar style, yet their auras were completely different.
Hugh was handsome and composed, while York was noble and aloof.
After their assistants left the office, Hugh spoke. "Mr. Ferguson, you're a busy man. What brings you here today?"
York got straight to the point. "Mr. Ferguson, my wife and I have had a disagreement, but it's not serious enough for a divorce. I'm here today to ask you not to interfere in our marital affairs."
Hugh's expression was serious. "Dr. Watkins is Hawley's godmother and his primary physician. If she needs my help, I will certainly provide it."
"You're offering to handle my wife's divorce pro bono, helping her leave me," York pressed. "Don't tell me you expect nothing in return, Mr. Ferguson."
"Of course, I want something in return," Hugh said.
Seeing York's expression change, Hugh continued, "I want Dr. Watkins to be happy. When Dr. Watkins is happy, my son is happy. And when my son is happy, I am very happy."
York stood up to leave. "My wife and I have known each other since childhood, over twenty years of history. Our bond can't be broken so easily. If you insist on going head-to-head with the Ferguson Group's legal team, Mr. Ferguson, then let's see who comes out on top."
Hugh understood the underlying threat in York's words but still politely escorted him to the door.
As York left the law firm, Mark asked cautiously, "Mr. Ferguson, what did he say?"
