"Dad, Mr. Cyrus and Mom are half-siblings, after all," he said. "This whole situation started because of me. I will do my best to mediate."
Wendy was surprised to hear York say this.
Historically, the philosophy his father had instilled in him for business was to be ruthless, even with family.
The men of the Ferguson family lived by a code: compassion doesn't command troops, righteousness doesn't manage wealth, emotion doesn't build empires, and kindness doesn't govern.
They were self-interested, their principles always taking precedence over personal feelings.
They could calmly weigh any situation and act with decisive, brutal efficiency.
But when it came to matters of the heart, every single one of them was a complete idiot.

During his lunch break, Claudia received a call from York and came out of the hospital.
Without a word, York pulled her into his car.
Claudia sensed that York's mood was off again.
She pursed her lips, waiting for him to speak first.
York stared at her intently. "I didn't realize you were so capable."
Claudia couldn't tell if that was a compliment or an insult.
"Could you spell it out for me?" she asked.
"Mr. Cyrus poached a multi-billion-dollar project from Ferguson Group to force me to divorce you," York said. "Did you know about this?"
Claudia's heart trembled.
She had only mentioned it in passing, and Cyrus had actually used a multi-billion-dollar project to pressure York into a divorce.
How could she ever repay such a massive favor?
From Claudia's reaction, York knew she had been kept in the dark.
"Claudia," he said, "the Ferguson family has been a powerhouse for a century. The title of Capital City's richest family isn't just for show. If Mr. Cyrus launches a business war against us, he'll be facing not just the Ferguson family, but all the major families behind us. Is that what you want to see?"
Claudia's confidence wavered. She knew that everything York said was true.
