Sewell said, "Look at how she's been acting lately. Her loyalties are completely elsewhere, and she's always messing around with unsavory men. If this—"
"Dad!"
York couldn't bear to listen anymore and cut him off. "Claudia is my wife. You can't speak about her like that!"
Sewell shot to his feet. "A woman like that doesn't deserve to be part of the Ferguson family! You have to divorce her and make sure she leaves with nothing!"
York's expression was frighteningly dark. He stood up wearily, his tone firm as he addressed his parents, "Even if the whole world is against it, I will not divorce Claudia."
York left Ferguson Manor and went straight back to the company. As the workday was ending, Mark returned to the office after seeing out the CEO of Grandeur Group.
Mark lowered his voice. "Mr. Ferguson, Wilma just called. Miss James used the excuse of going to the supermarket and borrowed a stranger's phone on the way to make a call."
York's pupils contracted sharply. "Did she get the number?"
"Unfortunately, Wilma lost her. She didn't get the number," Mark said with regret.
York's well-defined fingers tapped lightly on the desk. Suddenly, as if a thought struck him, he grabbed his jacket and rushed out of the office.
York got home early, before Claudia. He took a shower, changed into his pajamas, and ordered a full dinner to be delivered to the house.
Around seven in the evening, just as Claudia was about to open the door, it swung open from the inside. Seeing York standing there, she blinked rapidly.
