No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 389

At four-thirty in the morning, York used a spare key to open the door to the master bedroom.

By the faint light filtering through the curtains, he crept to the bed. He slipped under the covers and gently wrapped his arms around Claudia, closing his eyes.

Years ago, he had suffered from a bout of insomnia. After marrying Claudia, she had tried countless remedies for him. But he never told her that the cure wasn't a medicine; it was her. There was a faint, unique scent about her—a mix of her natural fragrance and something medicinal—that would allow him to relax and drift off to sleep just by lying next to her. That was why, in their three years of marriage, he had never spent a night away from home.

Ever since she had left him, his sleep quality had deteriorated. It had been a long time since he'd had a full night's rest. He wanted to be by her side again, to hold her and sleep until he woke up naturally.

York unconsciously snuggled closer to her.

*Claudia,* he thought, *after the divorce, we'll start over. I'll make you want to come back to me on your own terms.*

*Claudia, I don't want anyone but you.*

...

The next morning, Claudia woke to find York beside her. He was still fast asleep, dressed in pajamas. He wasn't covered by the blanket, his brow was furrowed in his sleep, and one hand was unconsciously clutching her wrist.

Claudia paused for a moment before pulling her hand free and waking him.

York had drunk heavily the night before. He forced his eyes open, fighting a headache, only to see Claudia standing by the bed, staring at him quietly.

He sat up on the edge of the bed and tentatively took her hand, pulling her down to sit beside him. "I drank too much last night," he said. "Don't mind me."

"City hall opens at nine," she said. "We should try to get there early. You should go get ready."

Whether he was actually drunk or just pretending didn't matter. All that mattered was getting that divorce certificate today.
