Claudia immediately called York, but he didn't pick up.
She grabbed her purse and was about to head out when her parents stopped her.
"Even if it was him, what can you do by confronting him?" Felix reasoned with his daughter.
Claudia collapsed onto the sofa, feeling utterly drained.
"Don't lose hope," Jessica comforted her. "We'll just try another auction house."
That afternoon, Claudia met with Gideon.
Gideon was also a bit surprised to hear that the jewelry had failed to sell.
He told Claudia, "I have to go to Caledon tomorrow for an academic conference. I'll give you an address. You should pay a visit to a Mr. Joseph Chase. He's a senior jewelry expert with many high-quality clients. He might be able to help you sell your pieces."
Claudia thanked him profusely, at a loss for words.
Gideon adjusted his glasses and asked tentatively, "I heard you're planning to resign?"
Claudia paused, unsure how to answer.
Gideon spoke frankly. "Claudia, I'm personally very interested in your field of specialization—sleep disorders. If you're open to it, I'd like to invite you to join us at Imperial Capital Private Hospital."
After a slight pause, he added, "Our hospital is internationally recognized. Not only can we provide you with a better platform to apply your expertise, but I can also guarantee that no one will interfere with your work there."
Claudia could feel Gideon's sincerity.
She didn't refuse. "Thank you, Gideon. If I need to, I'll definitely reach out."
