Cedric looked coldly at the family doctor beside him. "What's going on? Can't you see how uncomfortable she is?"
"Mr. Greene, this lady has been exposed to a new substance at the bar. I've already given her an antidote, but I can't guarantee its effectiveness. The spray works quickly, but it's been a while since she was exposed."
Cedric pressed his lips together. "Are there any side effects on her body?"
"The effects will wear off eventually, but before they do, it's best if someone keeps an eye on her."
"Leave. Don't tell anyone what happened here today." The doctor quickly nodded, grabbed his medical kit, and left.
Cedric approached Noelle, feeling her forehead, which was slightly warm.
He cleared his throat. "Do you want some water?"
But Noelle, still dazed, leaned into his palm, reaching up to hug his waist. "You feel so cool," she murmured.
As he looked at her leaning close, his gaze darkened. He gently pulled her hands away. "I'll get you some water."
He took a bottle of iced water from the fridge and returned to her side. When he saw her bare arm exposed, her dress discarded on the floor, his expression grew even darker.
He stepped closer and softly told her, "Sit up and drink some water."
However, Noelle's body was limp and weak, offering no resistance.
Cedric had no choice but to pick her up. Just then, the blanket slipped off her. He hurriedly adjusted it and pulled it back up over her.
His brow furrowed in frustration. "Stop moving!"
He held her in his arms, carefully twisting the cap off the bottle and offering her a sip.
"I know who you are!"
She cupped his face gently. "If I had to choose a man, I would rather it be you!"
He felt as though the string inside him had snapped in that instant. His rationality seemed to crumble.
Noelle had indeed been thinking about it. She knew what Xenia and Samantha had done to her. If it were any other man, she would rather die. However, if it was Cedric, she wasn't so opposed.
Cedric felt Noelle's heavy breathing, and he tenderly wiped the tears from her eyes. "You're still young. Don't give yourself away so easily."
"But I like you!"
She finally voiced her feelings, kissing his lips gently, clumsily but with care. His palm burned with heat as he sighed, unable to control the surge of emotions.
