No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 372

They were strangers.

Noelle watched the people before her and said, "I'm heading to the toilet.

She left the office. While there was still blood pooling the floor, cleaners were already working on it.

After Noelle left, Alfred couldn't help but complain, "You are horrible at taking care of people. You could've helped her home and consoled her."

"She's not a delicate petal who needs that degree of care!"

Cedric glanced at the blood on the floor. "It looks like the Liddells haven't been taught a hard enough lesson."

"They should be taught a lesson. However, the Liddell Corporation used to be a company founded by Noelle's parents. Even the name and the address had been picked out by them. If they went bankrupt, would they be sad?"

After all, this was a form of inheritance.

Cedric was stern as he turned and left toward the toilet. He had seen Noelle head to the fire escape. She sat on the stairs, lost in a daydream. The scene of Frank slitting his wrist was playing on repeat in her head. She couldn't get it out.

Cedric sat beside her and asked, "Do you need some consolation?"

She turned to him, not knowing whether she should've laughed or cried. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to console you."

Cedric patted his shoulders and said, "I'll lend you my shoulder for free."

She glanced at him and leaned on the shoulder. Closing her eyes, she said, "Do you think I crossed a line?"

"Have you forgotten how he scolded you? During your exam, Frank prepared broken stationery for you and that nearly cost you your grades."

Noelle looked down and didn't move. They were silent, remaining in the same position.

Her heartbeat picked up uncontrollably. Worried he would hear, she looked up hastily and asked, "Is it almost time?"

Cedric looked down at the same time and his lips brushed across her forehead. It was an accident neither had seen coming.

Noelle stood up hastily. "I'm heading off to the meeting."

She nearly missed a step on the staircase. Cedric pulled her into his arms and said, "Be careful."

Noelle's ears turned red. They were very close. Everything was silent, except for their racing heartbeats.

She looked up and made eye contact with Cedric. The distance between them decreased.
