Chapter 47
Noelle was slightly stunned when she heard Cedric say that her hands weren’t meant for cooking. She had thought he would be happy to know that she could cook.
Cedric stood there and said calmly, “You don’t need to do such things to please me.”
Noelle felt a heavy and suffocating feeling in her heart. She had acted on instinct earlier, simply wanting to do something for him, but he seemed to have seen right through her.
She tucked her hair behind her ear awkwardly and said, “A–Alright then.”
“A housekeeper would drop by to make us some food,” Cedric said.
Noelle did not insist on cooking anymore as she secretly glanced at Cedric, thinking of how amazing he seemed. He reminded her of the man she had a crush on in her previous life.
That man had also tried to make her see how poorly her brothers had treated her. However, she refused to accept the truth, which eventually led to her tragic demise.
The way Cedric spoke was also very similar to that man. So, she could not help but wonder if Cedric was the man she had met in her past life. Soon, she was left in a dilemma.
If only she had met that person face–to–face in her last life, she would definitely be able to
recognize him now.
Soon, a housekeeper came over and quickly made a table full of food. Noelle could feel herself drooling when she realized that the table was full of her favorite dishes like spicy marinara chicken and grilled beef.
She lowered her head and began eating earnestly
Cedric watched her as she ate and asked, “Did you not have these dishes while you were living with your family?”
Noelle paused momentarily. “Xenia doesn’t have the best health, so she can’t eat spicy food That’s why the meals at home are always bland.”
That meant that she rarely got to eat what she liked at home.
Cedric’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, and he felt a dull ache in his chest. Even his breathing -felt constricted.
Noelle was supposed to be a wealthy socialite, yet her life was worse than an ordinary girl’s. He should have looked for her sooner.
Noelle was stuffed after she finished eating. She wiped her mouth and glanced at Cedric. He was sitting there eating elegantly and gracefully.
She briefly froze, suddenly realizing how different they were when they ate. The stark contrast left her stunned. She wondered how someone could look so good while eating.
Cedric set his cutleries down leisurely and asked, “Are you done staring?”
Cedric glanced toward the study and saw Noelle sitting quietly as she studied diligently.
Alfred could not help but say, “Fine. I’ll talk to my uncle about it. But honestly, Ced, aren’t vou being a bit overbearing?
“What if she actually likes Justin? That guy has a face that girls tend to swoon over, and he definitely knows how to charm them. Maybe Noelle has feelings for him too.”
Cedric’s voice was filled with annoyance as he said, “If your intelligence matched your ability to run your mouth, your mother would feel much more assured.”
Alfred exclaimed, “Damn, Ced. No need to get so mad just because I said a couple of things! Don’t forget that you’re an engaged man. Remember who you had dinner with yesterday.”
“My private matters are none of your business,” Cedric said as he ended the call.
He paused momentarily before heading into the study and glanced at the questions she was working on. “You’re a bit slow. Can’t you even solve this?”
“Well, I’m trying here,” Noelle said. Her stomach felt quite uncomfortable, so it was getting harder for her to focus. It could be because she h
