Noelle tightened her grip just enough to make Laura wince in pain. Her gaze was icy as she said, "You have everything, yet Cedric still doesn't want you. Maybe you should be asking yourself why."

She released Laura's wrist with a slight shove. "Ms. Merlock, if you want to keep coming after me, I'll be more than happy to play along. I still have plenty of dirt on Samantha."

If Noelle exposed what she had on Samantha, it would not just ruin her reputation—it would drag the entire Merlock family down with her.

Laura's face darkened. She had assumed Noelle would be an easy target, just some nobody from a small-town family. However, it turned out Noelle was not so easy to crush.

In the end, Laura scoffed. "All Liddells are desperate to climb the social ladder. Donovan even shamelessly agreed to be the Cantrells' live-in son-in-law just for power and status."
