Noelle hesitated. "I've agreed to ride with Finn."
Beside her, Alfred hopped into the manager Finn Connor's car. "I happen to have something to discuss with Finn. Nelly, you can take that car instead."
He glanced at Cedric and smirked. "That's the best I can do for you, Ced."
Noticing her colleagues' curious gazes, Noelle had no choice but to bite the bullet and get in. Yet, she chose to settle in the passenger seat.
Sitting in the back, Cedric looked at her and sighed helplessly. "Are you afraid I'll eat you up?"
"You're the boss, Mr. Greene, and I'm just an employee. Sitting in the front seat is more appropriate," Noelle spoke matter-of-factly as she settled in, but she could feel a subtle shift in the atmosphere in the car.
Robin, who was driving, was visibly nervous. To see Cedric speak so humbly to a lady was truly an eye-opening, even life-fulfilling experience!
Cedric had no choice but to say, "I reviewed the issue you submitted earlier. That technical challenge will take some time to test and refine."
"I know. I'll make time to adjust. It'll be resolved in a month." Noelle had planned her approach during the meeting.
After this brief exchange, she turned to look out the window, and neither of them spoke. Soon, the car arrived at the summit venue.
Just as Noelle was about to get out, Cedric's phone rang. His tone immediately tensed as he answered the call, "What happened to Grandma? I'll be there right away!"
Noelle had stepped out of the car, but when she heard this, she instinctively turned back. She remembered Laura had received a call about Anastasia being critically ill and rushed to the hospital.
Cedric was visibly anxious. "I need to go to the hospital. Everything here has been dealt with, and you just have to go up and give your speech."
"Go handle it. I've got things covered here." She could tell how much he cared about Anastasia. Otherwise, he wouldn't be so flustered that he hadn't noticed dropping his phone.
Now that Donovan chose to work with them in this lifetime, was he courting death?
Wyatt smirked smugly. "You must've heard of them. Xenia introduced them to us."
Xenia's eyes flickered with anticipation. Once this project ended and drained Liddell Corporation's funds, she'd finally be free from the control of the Liddells.
She wouldn't have to please Wyatt, a cripple, anymore. When the time came, she'd make sure Noelle suffered endlessly.
Noelle sneered. "How dare you introduce a scam company to Donovan. I wonder what will happen when he finds out."
Xenia's expression darkened instantly. She was shocked that Noelle knew. That was impossible!
