Noelle glanced at Mia. Though she didn't need Mia to stand up for her, she was glad that Mia hadn't been deceived by the Liddells. That was enough.
Donovan frowned. "Xenia has apologized, Mia. Just let it go."
Mia stared at him in disbelief and didn't understand why he'd say such a thing.
Wyatt chimed in, "You don't know Noelle, Ms. Cantrell. What you see isn't necessarily the truth. Xenia will never frame someone on purpose, and she must've been framed herself."
His implication was that Noelle had set it up just to show Mia.
Mia turned to Donovan. "Is this what you think, too?"
Donovan hesitated and said, "Noelle has had many conflicts with the Liddells, and she's done things like this. You shouldn't trust her that much."
Mia felt incredibly disappointed in him. Donovan's patience was wearing thin as he continued, "There are so many people watching, Mia. Cut me some slack and stop making a scene, alright?"
Xenia's voice trembled as she said, "I don't want to see you and Mia fight about me, Donovan. I know I didn't do anything, but if my apology makes her happy, I'll do it."
Mia didn't hesitate to slap her across her face.
Wyatt immediately shielded Xenia behind him. "Ms. Cantrell, what gives you the right to slap her for no reason?"
Mia scoffed. She'd had enough. "I don't need a reason to slap her, do I? Since you're being so protective of Xenia, Donovan, I'll get Aunt Salena to cancel the engagement, and you can spend your life with this manipulative bitch."
Noelle watched the scene unfold and found Mia even more lovable. Then, the latter approached her to take her by the arm. "Let's go."
"No, you can't leave! Donovan, are you just going to stand by and watch Xenia get bullied? We're your family!" Wyatt shouted furiously at Donovan.
Donovan was caught between a rock and a hard place. At this moment, he couldn't afford to offend the Cantrells. His expression darkened as he grabbed Xenia and coldly ordered, "Apologize."
If she left now, there might not be a chance for her to return to the company and participate in the AI project. Donovan's hot temper would make it impossible.
As she thought about the plan she and her father had, Xenia had no choice but to swallow her grievances. She looked up at Noelle and Mia and said, "I'm sorry."
Mia coldly spat, "You still haven't admitted to spilling the red wine on purpose that day."
Of course, she'd never admit she did it on purpose. Mia fumed. Xenia was surely a disgusting bitch.
Unfazed, Noelle tugged at her hand and said, "Let's go."
As they walked away, Mia muttered in frustration, "I wasn't done yet."
