Chapter261
“Yeah, so let’s release it first, and if they want copyright cooperation later, we can talk then.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Maureen flopped heavily onto the sofa, closed her eyes, and prepared to rest.
Suddenly, a big hand pulled her up from the sofa, she opened her eyes and saw Geoffrey’s handsome face magnified.
“Go sleep in your room, sleeping here can make you catch a cold.”
“When did you get here?”
Maureen was puzzled.
Geoffrey was a bit unhappy; he had been here for a while and heard what she said, but she didn’t even know when he arrived.
Sure enough, she didn’t care enough.
“Just got here.”
He lied.
“Oh.
Maureen pushed his hand away.
“I’ll just lean on the sofa for a bit, you don’t need to mind me.”
But Geoffrey pulled her into his arms.
They hadn’t seen each other for two days.
“What are you doing?
Let go.”
Maureen tried to push him away, but Geoffrey held her tighter.
His free hand grasped her slender fingers.

“Don’t move. Don’t hurt the baby,”
He paused, remembering. “It’s almost three months now, right?
We’ll get a prenatal checkup today.”
Maureen frowned at his belated concern.
“Already did. The baby’s healthy. And I’ll say it again – it’s not yours.”
Geoffrey ignored her, sweeping Maureen into his arms toward the stairs.
“Geoffrey! Put me down! I’m not going back!”
She dug her nails into his arm.
He didn’t flinch, his grip unyielding.
Lately, his overbearingness had intensified.
After carrying her into the bedroom, Geoffrey kicked the door shut behind him and deposited her gently on the bed.
“Be good.”
Maureen felt speechless. Even blind, his strength overpowered hers.
Exhaustion washed over her, and she stopped resisting, drifting into sleep.
Geoffrey listened to her steady breathing until certain she slept, then slipped out.
Wayne stood waiting outside.
Seeing his boss, Wayne immediately opened the car door.
The car drove into the most luxurious building in Small Town.
The nation’s top psychiatrists were all there, along with numerous pieces of equipment.
Lying on one machine, Geoffrey continued his treatment. His memories seemed to grow clearer lately.
The clearer they became, the lonelier he felt–he couldn’t explain why.
Most childhood memories had returned, and scenes of his past with Maureen began surfacing in his mind.

Their wedding moment flashed by, followed by the humiliation–countless mocking stares and words when he’d been fooled,
His eyes snapped open, face etched with cold intensity.
“Mr. Sutton, are you all right?”
The doctor hurriedly asked, having just detected Geoffrey’s irregular heart rate and weak bram
waves.
Geoffrey clenched his fist, forehead beaded with sweat. “I’m fine.”
“Let’s end today’s session here.”
The doctor said immediately.
Continuing risked overwhelming Geoffrey.
Geoffrey didn’t insist.
He remained silent throughout the car ride back.
Darkness enveloped his vision–his blindness now complete, just what some people wanted.
“Mr. Sutton, we’ve arrived.”
Wayne said.
“Hmm.”
Geoffrey stepped out of the car.
Wayne watched him walk into the house.
Maureen had woken up too and was helping the chef prepare the meal.
Seeing Geoffrey return, she couldn’t help asking, “How’s your memory recovery?”
Though recalling past humiliations, Geoffrey froze at Maureen’s voice. Avoiding her gaze like he’d done wrong, he held his breath.
“The doctor says my memory won’t return, but my physical wounds have mostly healed.”
Geoffrey replied flatly.
When amnesiac, he’d promised Maureen he’d recover his memories.

But now with partial recall, he dared not tell her.
“Oh.”
Maureen was visibly disappointed.
Geoffrey stepped closer. “What, you really want my memories back?”
“Of course. Once you remember, you can leave.”
Maureen answered bluntly.
So that’s her plan?
A self–mocking smile curled Geoffrey’s thin lips.
Maureen missed his shift. “Come serve the dishes. Why just stand there?
I don’t keep freeloaders.”
Geoffrey’s throat tightened again.
Though resisting, his legs moved first–bringing him before her, hand outstretched.

Geoffrey was so obedient now that Maureen couldn’t keep giving him a hard time. She just asked him to do what he could.
Sometimes, Wayne would secretly come over and do those things for him.
During dinner that evening, Geoffrey suddenly spoke up: “I’ve found a job. From now on, I’ll cover the household expenses.”
After saying that, he returned the living expense card Maureen had given him.
He now had some memories from the past and knew naturally that this card wasn’t given out of Reenie’s concern for him.
Maureen looked at the bank card he handed over and was also puzzled by the job he mentioned. Jacob voiced Maureen’s confusion: “Alex, what job did you find?”
Geoffrey’s new company was already up and running. Using the excuse of going out for treatment to go to the company wasn’t a long–term solution.
“Charity work for the disabled.”
