No More Mrs. Nice Wife (Eleanor) novel Chapter 1081

Eleanor smiled. In that moment, the atmosphere in the hospital room felt light and sweet, and outside the window, the sun was shining brightly.

A few minutes later, Mayor Garnett Ellington pushed the door open. Mansfield asked Eleanor to wait outside for a moment. After a twenty-minute conversation, Garnett emerged, a look of anger on his face, but it softened into a gentle expression when he saw Eleanor.

"Eleanor, Mansfield told me everything that happened last night. I'm taking this very seriously. I'm sorry you had to go through that. You're a vital talent in our scientific community, and I promise nothing like this will ever happen again."

Eleanor was grateful. "Thank you for your concern, Mayor Ellington."

"I'll leave my nephew in your care, then," Garnett said gently, a knowing smile in his eyes.

Eleanor's face grew slightly warm as she watched him leave.

When she re-entered the room, Mansfield told her, "Don't worry. My uncle will handle this. None of them will escape justice."

Eleanor nodded. With the Ellington family involved, she was confident that the culprits would be held accountable.

At the lab, Serena was watching the news in the common room when she heard footsteps. She turned and shot to her feet in shock. "Ian!" The next second, she rushed over. "What happened to your hair?"

How had Ian's hair turned completely white overnight?

As his sister reached out to touch his hair, Ian caught her hand. "I don't like people touching my hair."

This couldn't be happening. Ian was only twenty-nine! There had to be a way to fix it. While the white hair didn't detract from his good looks, what if Ellie didn't like it? She had to find a way to get his hair back to normal.

Later, when Smith and the other lab members saw Ian's hair, they were all stunned. Smith even suggested he get a physical check-up, but Ian refused.

This was a heartache that no medicine in the world could cure. Unless—

But the only cure was already spoken for.

When Gina saw her son's hair, she broke down in tears, her guilt and pain intensifying. She was convinced it was her fault.

It took a great deal of comforting from Ian to calm her down. Gina hoped she could get better soon, to finally resolve her own health issues and ease her son's burden. He had carried the responsibility for her illness for ten years; she truly felt she didn't deserve to be his mother.
