Serena picked up her phone and started looking up Vanessa's recent activities. To her surprise, after posting that ambiguous update with Xavier, Vanessa had followed up with a poster announcing her performance at the Kingston Art Festival. The festival was next week, and Vanessa had been invited as a guest performer.
Serena stared at the poster. Vanessa was in a white evening gown, looking elegant and pure, like a goddess.
But now, Serena knew what a manipulative, scheming woman was hiding behind that graceful smile.
Thinking about everything Vanessa had done over the years, Serena gritted her teeth.
She found the phone number of the festival's director and dialed without hesitation.
"Hello, who is this?"
"Director Wells, hello. My name is Serena. I'd like to report a serious issue with the personal conduct of the piano artist you've hired, Vanessa Shannon."
The director on the other end sounded surprised. "Miss Goodwin, Miss Shannon is a pianist we've hired at great expense. Her artistic achievements are internationally recognized—"
"Mr. Wells, I have evidence proving that her artistic achievements are fraudulent and that her international piano certifications are highly questionable," Serena said, her tone becoming more serious. "My name is Serena. Ian, the CEO of Goodwin & Co., is my brother. I am making this report under my own name and am willing to bear full responsibility for any inaccuracies."
"This is—" Director Wells was clearly shocked.
Serena pressed on. "Mr. Wells, the art festival represents the highest standard of artistic pursuit. If you allow someone who has achieved fame through deception to perform on your stage, it will not only damage the festival's reputation but also dishearten other artists. Wouldn't you agree?"
The news of Eleanor starting a new relationship left her feeling down for a while, but she soon came to terms with it. No matter who Eleanor chose to marry in the future, Serena vowed to repay her for the rest of her life, to make up for how she had hurt her in the past.
And although Ian had lost Eleanor, they still had a daughter together, so they would never be completely out of each other's lives. In the future, Ian could surely help Eleanor with his research connections and network.
As for Ian's future love life, Serena couldn't interfere. Maybe he would meet the right woman and marry again, or maybe he would remain single for the rest of his life.
Around four o'clock, Serena went to find Eleanor. "Ellie, my grandmother would like you to come to my home for dinner today. She hasn't seen Evelyn in a long time and misses her very much."
Eleanor was taken aback. Just then, a message from Ian came through. "I'm taking Evelyn to Goodwin Manor tonight. Could you bring Serena back with you?"
