The night was thick and dark. At the airport in the early hours of the morning, Ian strode toward his waiting Gulfstream G650 private jet. Gavin followed closely behind, giving instructions to the pickup team in Kingston.
Once inside the cabin, Gavin chose a seat that was neither too close nor too far. He carefully observed his boss's expression, which was uncharacteristically solemn.
He couldn't guess what could have happened in Kingston.
At two in the morning, the Gulfstream G650 landed smoothly at Kingston International Airport. The cabin door opened, and Ian descended the airstairs. Three mysterious black sedans were already waiting beside the plane, with several middle-aged men in black suits standing by.
"Mr. Goodwin, please," the man in the lead said respectfully, stepping forward.
Gavin instinctively tried to follow, but two other men blocked his way. "Sorry, only Mr. Goodwin is invited."
Ian turned and gave Gavin a slight nod before getting into the middle car. The convoy quickly sped away from the airport, disappearing into the night.
Gavin stood there, his heart filled with uncertainty. The people who had come to pick up his boss clearly had an extraordinary status.
Meanwhile, Ian sat in the car, gazing at the rapidly receding night scenery outside the window, his expression grave.
The convoy headed toward a private area behind Ashford Medical University. When the cars came to a stop, Ian got out and saw another car pull up sharply. He paused for a moment and saw Chancellor Maxwell stepped out, an air of exhaustion about him.
He didn't seem surprised to see Ian.
"Ian, you're here. Let's go in," he said.
