Eleanor was at the supermarket with her daughter. Evelyn Goodwin skipped ahead, picking out items, her ponytail swaying with innocent charm.

Behind Eleanor, Lanny and two of his men blended in with the other shoppers, keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings.

Grocery shopping was a relaxing activity. Eleanor's gentle gaze followed her daughter's lively figure. The little girl was standing in front of a row of chocolates, her big eyes full of longing. She turned back to her mother. "Mommy, can I buy a chocolate bar?" she asked, holding up a small finger as a promise. "Just one."

Eleanor chuckled at her daughter's adorable expression and nodded. "Alright, pick one out!"

"Thank you, Mommy!" Evelyn beamed and turned back to the chocolates, searching for her favorite flavor.

Just then, Eleanor caught a tall figure out of the corner of her eye stepping out from behind a shelf. Ian had appeared from nowhere and was now walking toward them.

He was dressed in a formal suit, looking as if he had just rushed over from an important meeting.

"Daddy!" Evelyn spotted him and immediately abandoned her beloved chocolates.

She ran over to hug his leg, then eagerly took his hand. "Daddy, Mommy said I can buy a chocolate bar! Come help me pick!"

Ian let his daughter lead him, his stern features softening with affection.

As he passed Eleanor, his eyes met hers. "Just finished up," he said in a low, gentle voice. "Came to see you two."
