Eleanor's eyes welled up.
York had been married when he was younger, but his wife left, unable to handle his devotion to his research. Now, he'd been separated from his wife and children for half his life and would be an old man living alone.
"Mr. Windsor, in my heart, you're like a godfather to me. In a few years, when you retire, I'll take care of you," Eleanor said sincerely.
York's eyes also grew warm. He patted her shoulder. "We're not there yet! You just focus on taking care of your own little family."
After York left, Eleanor threw herself back into her work. In the evening, Ryan and Callie went down to the cafeteria for dinner. Eleanor was analyzing a set of brainwave data when she suddenly noticed an anomaly—when the test subject engaged in a specific thought process, the neurons in a certain area of the brain exhibited a unique synchronous firing pattern.
This discovery instantly thrilled her. She immediately pulled up all the past experimental data and, after repeated comparisons and validations, confirmed that this was not a random occurrence.
Excitedly, Eleanor sent a message to York.
Soon, York called her. "Eleanor, you've just confirmed an unprecedented brain information encoding mechanism. This discovery is not only revolutionary for brain-computer interface technology but could also open up entirely new paths for treating neurodegenerative diseases.
Then, York exclaimed excitedly, "Ellie, this is a Nobel Prize-level discovery!" But he quickly calmed himself. "Of course, the value of research isn't in the awards, but in how many people it can benefit."
"Mr. Windsor, I'll immediately organize this into a paper and submit it to an international academic journal. Once I've finished my current tasks, I'll further explore the clinical applications of this mechanism."
"Good, that's fantastic," York said approvingly.
