Chapter 16
1/1
When Jason received the news, his face went ashen. He immediately rushed to the hospital with Benjamin.
His footsteps in the corridor were urgent and heavy, his mind replaying Victoria’s strange behavior recently—her gaze, her attitude, even her coldness and hostility toward him and Sophia.
Two hospital rooms stood side by side. Jason stood between them, suddenly unsure which door to open first. As he hesitated, a nurse approached, holding an envelope.
“Mr. Reid, this fell from Ms. Page’s hands when she was brought in. Please confirm it’s hers.”
Jason took the envelope and casually opened it, his pupils contracting sharply. Inside were surveillance screenshots and transaction records, clearly showing that the night before the wedding, a woman identical to Victoria had left the Reid residence.
Even more shocking was the evidence from three years ago. The Colemans had made a secret deal with “Victoria“, noted as stand–in bride compensation.
“She was a fake?” His voice was hoarse, his fingers unconsciously tightening until the envelope crumpled in his grip.
All the inconsistencies suddenly clicked into place. She wasn’t Victoria at all.
Jason’s head snapped up, fury blazing in his eyes. He turned toward the hospital room, ready to confront the woman posing as Victoria.
However, the moment he took a step, he saw Sophia standing at the corner of the hallway. Her face was pale as she stared at the envelope in his hands.
Seeing this, Sophia quickly stepped forward to stop him, her voice urgent. “Jason, if she ran away, it proves she’s guilty! She was impersonating Victoria, probably for the Reid fortune. Why bother chasing after her?”
