Elianna sat in the car putting on makeup to make herself look weak. With help from her assistant, she stepped out of the car and said, “I’m really sorry. I’ve been feeling a little unwell these past few days and went to the hospital to get checked.”

She added, “I wanted to come back sooner, but the doctor insisted I stay in for a few days. I rushed back as fast as I could, but I was still late. I’m truly sorry for wasting everyone’s time.”

Her every word sounded sincere, and the regret in her red–rimmed eyes almost seemed ready to spill over

as tears.

Just a few days ago, everyone enjoyed the milkshake she provided. With their mouths having tasted her kindness, they felt uncomfortable but chose not to say anything.

Skylar crossed her arms, her cold gaze sweeping over

Elianna.

She could tell at a glance that Elianna was faking illness.

But she didn’t want to argue. The fourth female lead only had one or two episodes. Once her scenes were done, they wouldn’t have to see each other again.

Skylar said, “Let’s not delay anymore. Start shooting.”

Elianna stood at the position the director indicated, her mind completely blank.

She pursed her lips. She’d had too much fun recently and had completely forgotten to memorize her lines.

After a brief wave of guilt, Elianna quickly composed herself.

After all, it was just a few shots. Her character would exit early, and no one would care how well she acted.

Thinking this made her feel justified.

The clapperboard snapped shut as all the cameras rolled into action.

Today’s scene was Elianna’s character, Kara Montoya, just getting off

and buying groceries on her way home.

She held an umbrella while walking through the rain and came across a woman lying unconscious on the ground.

Kara approached, checked on her, and called 911.

This was her first encounter with the killer, Milly.

Milly was a psychotic murderer who liked to rip out people’s hearts. She often lay on the road, pretending to be in distress, to bait kindhearted people.

She would then stalk them, testing them repeatedly until they grew tired and stopped helping her.

To Milly, these people were no different from the uncle who once gave her candy as a child, only to hurt her later.

She believed their kindness was just poisoned sugar–coated lies.

Milly was a psychologist. From subtle details, she could identify a person’s weaknesses. Then she’d either threaten or manipulate them into h
