Once a Doormat Now Untouchable (Caleb and Sydney) novel Chapter 301

Chapter 301

That morning, Sydney walked into the R&D department with her bag as usual, only for Marcus to steer her toward the conference room.

Puzzled, she asked, “Marc, what’s going on? Is there a sudden meeting today?”

“It’s not a meeting.” Marcus smiled warmly Just before they entered, he covered her eyes with his hand. “Ready? It’s a surprise.”

Sydney blinked. “Huh?”

The next moment, the door opened, and a chorus of voices rang out.

“Ms. Wilson! Congratulations on your success!”

“Congratulations, Ms. Wilson-and to the entire medicine team-for such a brilliant win!”

“Ms. Wilson! You’re incredible. This time, you really floored us completely!”

Someone in the crowd noticed Shane standing silent and nudged him. “Shane, how can you be zoning out right now? Hurry up and congratulate your leader!”

Startled, Shane laughed awkwardly. “I’m just too happy, that’s all.”

He smiled at Sydney. “Ms. Wilson, congratulations. As your senior and your partner, I’m proud of you.”

Marcus finally lifted his hand from her eyes.

Sydney opened them to see the room decorated with balloons and streamers. A large cake sat in the center of the table, and everyone was smiling at her.

“Thank you, everyone. This project wouldn’t have reached this stage without each of you.” Sydney’s heart swelled with joy, but she added steadily, “Still, its real success depends on the clinical trials.”

The final round of R&D data verification had been completed and submitted yesterday. Next came production and clinical testing, each a new hurdle to cross.

Henry chuckled. “Ms. Wilson, we all believe in you. You should believe in yourself too.

Since she joined the team, aside from that one sabotage incident with Hugh, every one of Sydney’s experiments had succeeded. The final dataset had been triple- checked. There shouldn’t be any problems.

Then Henry beckoned her over. “Hero of the hour, come on. Cut the cake already. We’re all waiting to share your good luck.”

Though the breakthrough was the result of both her and Marcus’ work, once the drug hit the market, everyone in R&D would share in its success.

“Alright.” Sydney smiled, stepped forward, and began slicing the cake, setting each piece neatly on plates.

Just then, a knock came at the door.

Charlotte stood in the doorway with a smile. “I didn’t expect you to be celebrating already.”

Henry rubbed his nose. “Who could hold back after news like this?”

“What I mean is…” Charlotte walked up beside Sydney and rested a hand on her shoulder. “You’re celebrating Ms. Wilson’s success with just this?”

“This was all the budget allowed…” Henry admitted.
