Edwin looked straight at Tyrone. “Back then, I offered Aella a billion dollars and told her not to marry you. She tore up the check and said she’d rather die than give up.”
Zera was shaking with jealousy.
Why had she only been given 60 million dollars, while Aella got a billion dollars?
What made Aella so much better than her?
Tyrone stared at Aella, feeling as if someone had ripped open his heart.
So Edwin had tested her too.
When the Reid family went bankrupt and desperately needed money, she still refused the check and chose to marry him.
Aella lowered her eyes, pretending not to notice Tyrone’s burning gaze.
She regretted that decision more than anything else.
Zera saw Tyrone’s eyes locked on Aella and nervously tightened her grip on his arm.
Crying, she tried to defend herself. “Tyrone, please believe me. Mr. Edwin forced me to take that 60 million dollars. I swear it’s true!”
Tyrone’s dark eyes wavered with conflict.
He stayed silent for a long time, then pushed Justin’s hand aside.
Pulling Zera close, he said, “Grandpa, Zera is the mother of my child. Orson is my son. I trust that she had her reasons.”
Zera had already ruined her life for him. She had a child waiting at home. He couldn’t let anything happen to her.
Aella stood quietly, not the least bit surprised by his reaction.
Edwin signaled to Justin, who handed a check to Zera.
Edwin said, “Miss Caldwell, take this check. You can either leave or get married.”
Zera froze as if struck by lightning.
Then, right in front of everyone, she dropped to the ground.

She sobbed, “Mr. Edwin, I know I’m not good enough for Tyrone, but we already have a child together. Orson is your great–grandson. Please, for his sake, let us stay!”
A flash of coldness crossed Edwin’s eyes. “This isn’t up to you.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Justin waved, and several bodyguards rushed forward.
They knew Tyrone could fight, so they had to attack from behind just to hold him down.
Tyrone struggled, watching helplessly as Zera was dragged away. Panic flared in his chest. He turned to Aella with a warning look. “Don’t forget what you promised me in the car.”
Their eyes met in silence.
Aella stepped in front of the bodyguards and shielded Zera.
Aella stepped up to Edwin. “Mr. Edwin, please let them be together.”
Her words sent him into a rage. “You’re foolish!”
He shot to his feet and swung his cane at her.
Aella stayed where she was, slowly closing her eyes.
No matter what happened, she had to help Zera take her place.
Tonight was the perfect chance.
“Aella!”
Just as the cane came down, Tyrone broke free from the bodyguards with sheer force.
He threw his arms around Aella, shielding her as the cane struck.
With a muffled thud, blood trickled down Tyrone’s forehead.
He lost control and shouted, “Why didn’t you dodge?”
Aella lowered her eyes and gently pushed him away.
Not far off, Zera stood frozen, stunned by what she’d just seen.
She had always believed Tyrone felt nothing for Aella, but she never imagined he would risk his life to protect her.
Zera hesitated for a moment, then spoke up. “It’s all my fault. I never should have come back. If

With a glance from Edwin, two bodyguards dragged her back.

Tyrone pushed Aella aside, forced down his anger, and faced Edwin.
“Grandpa,” he said, “six years ago you tore us apart by sending Zera overseas. This time, I won’t let you take her away from me again.”
After speaking, he turned his head toward Aella, as if something had just occurred to him.
Aella stood quietly with her head lowered, her expression hidden from view.
Edwin stepped forward, leaning on his cane. “If she dares destroy your marriage, I’ll take her life myself.”
Tyrone’s voice was firm. “Zera and Orson are my world. If you want to harm them, you’ll have to kill me first.”
His words made everyone fall silent.
Tyrone’s chest tightened for reasons he couldn’t name, and he instinctively looked at Aella.
Aella gave him a faint smile. “Congratulations, Tyrone. You finally have someone worth risking your life for.”
They stared at each other without a word.
Aella looked at him calmly, a quiet smile still on her lips.
From the time she could barely talk to the bloom of her youth, from her first innocent crush to the day she married him … She’d always called him “Tyrone.”
That name had carried her through all the years of her growing up.
Their story began with that name—and it ended with it too.
Through her blurred vision, Aella seemed to see her younger, carefree self walking toward her with a dagger in hand.
The girl smiled as she drove the blade into Aella’s heart and asked softly, “Is that deep enough?”
Aella closed her eyes, her brows pinching together as pain rippled through her chest.
