Chapter 114: Shadows of Manipulation
Chapter 114: Shadows of Manipulation
(Marcus Blackwood’s POV)
After the call ended, Amber Stone emerged from the estate and approached me as I stood beside the
reflecting pool. The moonlight danced across the water’s surface, creating ripples that mirrored my turbulent
thoughts.
“Alpha, Nathan Sterling has arranged for David Blackthorne to be transferred to Shadowpeak Rehabilitation
Center,” she reported.
I narrowed my eyes. “Shadowpeak?”
The name carried weight – it was an exclusive facility far from the Northern Territory. My jaw clenched as the
implications became clear.
Amber continued, “I have to say, Nathan Sterling is quite attentive to the Luna…”
I remained silent, my gaze fixed on the moonlit water. Nathan’s attentiveness toward Elena was clearly
calculated, part of his larger scheme.
Then there was Adrian Whitmore… The thought of Elena being with another male caused my chest to tighten
with possessive fury.
“We’re going to Shadowpeak, I commanded in a deep voice.
“Given the Luna’s current relationship with you, if you move against David Blackthorne…” Amber began
carefully.
I looked at her for a long moment, then suddenly laughed bitterly. “Even you think so. She probably thinks so
too.”
Amber lowered her eyes, remaining silent about the obvious tension.
1 will make it up to her,” I declared.
Amber’s voice was gentle but firm. ‘Alpha, belated attempts at redemption are often useless.”
1 don’t care,” I said flatly.
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
After Dr. Jane Porter became familiar with me, she would often visit my healing chamber during breaks to
invite me for meals, Whenever we were together, Jane would help “drive away” unwanted attention from male
staff members who tried to court me.
As we returned from the cafeteria to the surgical wing, chatting and laughing, a familiar figure stepped out of
the steel ascent elevator.
The moment Nathan Sterling’s eyes met mine, his previously somber expression brightened with a smile.
“Elenal”
“Hey! What are you doing!” Not knowing the full situation, Jane tried to block Nathan’s path, but he gently
moved her aside.

He grasped my shoulders urgently. “Tve been looking for you everywhere. I finally tracked you down to this
medical center!”
His voice cracked with emotion. “I’m sorry about everything – you can punish me however you want, but
please don’t ignore me.”
Jane rubbed her shoulder, observing the tension between us,
I looked at him calmly, still addressing him as “Nathan,” but with more distance than before. “You don’t owe me anything, and I don’t owe you. You really don’t need to feel guilty toward me.”
Nathan’s face showed genuine anguish. “But I can’t let go of what happened with your mother. Every time I think about Patricia, I… I hate myself for not being there when she needed help.
I could see his face was gaunt, suggesting he was indeed experiencing remorse.
But I had no right to blame him for not answering my mother’s desperate call for help. After all, I had been
too presumptuous thinking that Nathan Sterling would always be there to assist my family.
Learning that his kindness had ulterior motives actually brought me relief. This debt could finally be
considered settled.
“Nathan, you really don’t have to torment yourself like this.” I removed his hands from my shoulders. “You feel guilty toward me, but in my opinion, we’ve simply returned to where we started.”
