Chapter 118: He Has Someone Else in His Heart
(God’s POV)
“How did you know about my brother…” Elena was taken aback for a moment. “Did you hear everything yesterday?”
Hugo stood with his arms crossed. “I didn’t intend to listen. I just didn’t expect your mate to be Marcus Blackwood.”
Elena remained silent as Hugo stepped closer. “If you need help, I can arrange for David to be transferred to a different facility. Somewhere Marcus can’t control.”
She questioned his motives immediately. “Why would you help me? We barely know each other beyond your
grandfather.”
Her voice grew sharper. “Why would you risk offending the Blackwood family for someone like me?”
Hugo frowned, his jaw tightening. “Because I can’t stand that Alpha with the surname Blackwood. Is that
reason enough?”
Elena firmly shook her head. “That’s between you two. I’ll solve my own problems.”
She straightened her shoulders, her voice gaining strength. “I’ve spent too many years relying on others. I
won’t make that mistake again.”
“Thank you for the offer, but I can handle my own affairs.”
She walked toward the elevator without looking back. Hugo watched from his balcony as her

rove away.
Amber Stone escorted me to a magnificent hotel–style suite on the top floor of Shadowmere Private Healing
Sanctuary. The opulence was staggering.
“This suite costs one hundred thousand a night,” Amber explained as we entered. “It’s reserved for the
territory’s most elite families.”
The space was enormous. Six bedrooms, six bathrooms, four living rooms. Private balconies overlooked
manicured gardens.
Amber set up my fingerprint access at the door. “The staff will address you as Luna Blackwood and David’s
sister.”
An older caregiver approached us with a warm smile. “Welcome, Luna. I’m Mrs. Ortiz, Mr. Blackthorne’s primary caregiver.”
She gestured down the hallway. “Would you like to see your brother now?”
David’s room was a spacious master suite filled with advanced medical equipment. Monitors beeped softly tracking his vital signs.
Mrs. Ortiz pressed a button and curtains parted to reveal floor–to–ceiling windows. A serene swan lake

stretched beyond the glass.
“Alpha Marcus specifically chose this room,” she explained. “The light is excellent, and he can see the park.
Her voice grew gentle. “Alpha Marcus said the liveliness of the park might one day awaken him.”
I approached the bed, my heart clenching. David looked so thin, his head shaven from surgery. But his muscles weren’t atrophied.
“He’s been receiving excellent care,” Mrs. Ortiz continued.
Just then, Marcus entered the room. Mrs. Ortiz immediately bowed. “Alpha Marcus.”
She excused herself quickly, leaving us alone.
Without glancing at him, I asked coldly, “Where is my bedroom?”
Marcus moved to my side, his voice unexpectedly gentle. “It’s next door. I chose it specifically for you.”
I turned and walked out without another word. He followed, a tight smile playing on his lips.
My room was equally luxurious, fully automated with voice controls. I dropped my luggage and prepared to
leave for work.
Marcus grabbed my hand. “I’ll drive you.”
I pulled away sharply. “Whatever.”
He watched the warmth slip from his grasp, his lips tightening with disappointment.
Downstairs, I waited by the entrance. When Marcus drove up in his black Phantom, hope flickered across his
face.
But I walked right past his car toward another vehicle.
Jane Porter leaned out of the driver’s window. “What are you doing at the sanctuary?”
“My brother is here,” I replied simply.
Jane was about to respond when Marcus got out of his car. The distinguished figure jogged her memory.
“I’ve seen him at family banquets,” she whispered.
Marcus stopped beside me, his arm wrapping possessively around my waist. “A new friend?”
I smiled faintly. “Yes, she’s the first friend I’ve made in Riverside City.”
I extracted myself from his grasp and faced him directly. “I’m going with my friend. There’s no need for you to drive me, Alpha Marcus.”
He stared at me, an unreadable smile playing on his lips. “As long as you’re happy.”
His expression remained calm but dim as our car drove away.
In the car, Jane couldn’t contain her curiosity. “Is he your…”
“Soon–to–be severed mate,” I finished.
“He’s so handsome. You’re willing to sever the bond with him?” Jane asked, genuinely puzzled.
I gazed out the window, a bitter smile crossing my face. “What’s the use of being handsome? He has someone else in his heart.”

My voice grew quieter. “We’re not suitable for each other.”
Jane clicked her tongue sympathetically. “He has someone else in his heart? Then this severing is a must!”
I simply smiled without responding.
For the next few days, I lived in the suite, maintaining cold distance from Marcus. He kept his promise not to touch me.
To the staff, I was “Luna Blackwood.” The title felt hollow and mockingly ironic.
Our six–year secret mating was suddenly common knowledge throughout the Northern Territory.
We were invited to a launch event for Blackwood Consortium’s medical project. Marcus formally introduced me as his mate to the territory’s elite.
