I walked directly to Marcus’s Shadow Archives where he was meeting with Amber Stone. The heavy wooden

doors stood slightly ajar, allowing me to hear their hushed conversation.

“Did you attack Nathan Sterling?” I demanded, pushing the doors open.

Marcus looked up from his desk, his golden eyes meeting mine without flinching. “I wanted to teach him a lesson for drugging you.”

“Your delayed revenge is useless,” I said angrily. “Nathan’s mother came looking for me instead.”
