Chapter 14: Confrontation and Consequences.
Chapter 14: Confrontation and Consequences
(Elena’s POV)
I stood in the institute corridor, my voice cutting through the air like a silver blade “You made me go to a business dinner, tricked me into someone else’s private room, and even had them force moonlight wine on me and drug met
My eyes locked onto Sophia’s face, watching for any c***k in her facade. Healer Sophia’s methods are truly despicable”
The pack nurses gathered around us whispered among themselves, their voices rising in disbelief I could hear fragments of their conversations.
“Did Elena really say that?”
“Sophia would never do such a thing…
Sophia’s face changed slightly, but she quickly composed herself. “Healer Elena. I don’t know what you’re talking about. There must be some misunderstanding.”
I pulled out my phone, scrolling to the message thread from yesterday. “Here’s the false room information you sent me last night.”
I held the screen toward the growing crowd. “I can have the territorial officials verify the truth. They’ll confirm no business dinner was scheduled.”
Sophia’s eyes darted around nervously as she realized her lie was crumbling. Then she spotted someone approaching from down the corridor.
Her expression shifted to desperation. She suddenly grabbed my hand, trying to force it toward her face
“Elena, please don’t hit me again!” she cried out loudly. “It was all a misunderstanding! I must have read the room number wrong!”
I tried to pull my hand away, confused by her sudden change in tactics. “What are you doing?”
But Sophia had already positioned herself near the staircase. As I yanked my hand back, she deliberately threw herself down the steps.
The sound of her body hitting the concrete echoed through the corridor. Everyone gasped in shock.
Pack Nurse Rachel rushed forward. “Someone call for emergency healing!”
Other healers gathered around Sophia’s crumpled form at the bottom of the stairs. I stood frozen at the top. my hand still extended from where she’d grabbed it.
Director Henry Baker arrived with several institute leaders just as Sophia was being helped up. Blood trickled from a cut on her forehead.
“What happened here?” Director Henry Baker demanded, his eyes moving between me and Sophia.
“Elena pushed her down the stairs!” one of the witnesses exclaimed.
“I saw it with my own eyes!”
Chapter 14. Confrontation.
I opened my mouth to explain, but the words felt useless. I didn’t push her. She threw herself down
Director Henry Baker’s expression filled with disappointment. “Elena, Ive always thought highly of you during your three years of service here.”
He shook his head sadly. “I never expected you to commit such an error.”
The accusation hit me like a physical blow. I remained silent, knowing any explanation would be futile at this
point
But I resolved not to remain passive this time. I wouldn’t let Sophia’s schemes destroy me without a fight
The incident spread through the institute like wildfire. Within an hour, everyone knew about the supposed
attack.
Director Henry Baker called me into his office later that afternoon. “To protect the facility’s reputation, I’m forced to temporarily suspend you from your duties”
I nodded numbly, accepting the inevitable consequence of Sophia’s manipulation.
As I left the director’s office, a familiar figure appeared in the hallway. Marcus stood near the emergency stairwell, his golden eyes burning with anger.
He immediately grabbed my wrist and dragged me into the stairwell. The door slammed shut behind us
“Why did you provoke Sophia despite my previous warnings?” he demanded, his Alpha authority radiating
through the small space.
His grip on my wrist tightened painfully. “Do my words mean nothing to you?”
I met his gaze defiantly. “It was Sophia who provoked me, not the other way around.”
Marcus’s expression turned cold. “What reason could Sophia possibly have to provoke you?”
I couldn’t provide a clear answer, though I suspected it was related to Marcus himself. The truth about our
mate bond hung between us like a dangerous secret
“Let’s sever our mate bond,” I said quietly. “Then I won’t constantly bear false accusations”
Marcus’s expression darkened dangerously. His wolf’s presence pressed against my consciousness through
our bond.
“Stop threatening me with severing our bond,” he warned, his voice dropping to a menacing whisper. “Such
threats have no effect on me.”
He released my wrist and stepped back. “Take care of yourself, Elena.”
The ominous tone in his voice sent chills down my spine as he left me alone in the stairwell
(Sophia’s POV)
Marcus entered my recovery room an hour later. I weakly sat up in the medical bed, wincing from my carefully
orchestrated injuries.
“Marcus, you came,” I said softly, my voice trembling with manufactured vulnerability.
He sat in the accompanying chair, his tall and broad figure commanding even in the environment. His well–tailored suit emphasized his powerful Alpha presence.

Chapter 14 Confrontation
Looking at him now, I couldn’t help but remember our college days. He’d been the campus heartthrob who pampered me for three years,
We’d been so close to completing the mating bond. The memory filled me with regret and unwillingness
“About the business dinner incident.” Marcus said, his voice carefully controlled. Tell me what really happened.”
I forced tears to well up in my eyes. It was my mistake in reading the wrong room number, I accept any treatment from Elena as deserved.
Marcus’s expression remained complex as he studied my face. Tl handle this matter”
Though he assured me of his support, I noticed his attitude toward me had been different since my return from abroad.
I knew he was disgusted by the fact that I’d had another werewolf’s pup. The knowledge ate at me like poison
(Elena’s POV)
I discovered something that confirmed my suspicions. The staircase surveillance camera had conveniently malfunctioned during the incident.
Sophia had tampered with it in advance. Every detail of her scheme had been carefully planned.
After some hesitation, I sent a message through my phone to someone I hadn’t contacted in months.
For two days, Marcus didn’t return to Moonhaven Estate. His absence felt both relieving and ominous.
Catherine Hayes noticed many of my clothes were missing from the wardrobe. “Luna Elena, where are all your dresses?”
