Chapter 29: Confrontation and Accusations
Chapter 29: Confrontation and Accusations
(Elena’s POV)
Marcus unexpectedly entered my chamber just as I was taking my medicine. I quickly tried to hide the bottle behind my back, but his sharp eyes caught the movement.
He grabbed my wrist forcefully, his fingers digging into my skin. “What are you hiding?”
His golden eyes blazed with suspicion. “Did you drug me?”
The accusation hit me like a physical blow. I stared at him in disbelief, then bitter laughter escaped my lips.
“Do you think I’m a masochist?” I asked, my voice hollow with pain. “Why would I want to be treated so badly?”
Though I could see in his eyes that he believed what I said, his expression remained cold and cruel.
“Maybe you’re trying to get pregnant with my pup,” he suggested with deliberate cruelty.
The words cut deeper than any blade. I slowly opened my palm, revealing the Moonshade Fertility Suppressant Pills.
“Unfortunately, I can’t get pregnant,” I said quietly.
Marcus’s eyes turned bloodshot as he read the word “contraceptive” on the bottle. His grip on my wrist tightened until I winced.
“Ruthless,” he spat, then stormed out of the room.
(Isabella’s POV)
I hid by the stairs, watching my cousin leave with a dark expression. Secret pleasure filled my chest as I
imagined Elena crying alone in her room.
She deserved this fate as a pathetic lapdog who couldn’t let go.
The next morning, I watched Elena bid farewell to Grandmother Margaret in the Meditation Sanctuary.
As Elena left the sanctuary, I blocked her path in the corridor. My lips curved into a mocking smile.
“Still playing the lapdog?” I taunted. “Can’t you see my cousin obviously dislikes you?”
Elena looked at me calmly, her composure infuriating. “I’ll return your cousin to Sophia in two months.”
The unexpected response left me stunned. This wasn’t the reaction I’d anticipated.

Returning to Moonhaven Estate, I immediately called Professor Theodore Ashworth. “Margaret Blackwood has agreed to give us the project
The professor’s delight was evident through the phone. “Wonderful! I’ll hand over full control to you once you arrive in Riverside City.”
After hanging up, I noticed Marcus smoking outside the Residential Tower. Despite the painful memories

from the night before, I walked past him as if he didn’t exist.
“What did you tell my grandmother?” he asked.
“Nothing,” I replied simply, continuing toward the building.
In the Steel Ascent, I almost bumped into him when turning around. I instinctively stepped back, creating
distance between us.
(Sophia’s POV)
I emerged from the opposite hallway just as the elevator doors closed. The sight of Marcus and Elena together filled me with jealous rage.
They lived together. He had never stayed overnight at my place, yet he shared a home with her.
I immediately pulled out my phone and dialed William Cross. “I need a small favor.”
(Marcus’s POV)
At the estate, I watched Elena take clothes to the Shadow Wing Guest Suite and lock the door. Her newfound
wariness of me troubled me more than I cared to admit.
My phone rang with Director Henry Baker’s number.
(Elena’s POV)
The next afternoon, I arrived at the Northern Territory Central Healing Institute after taking a half–day off. In the lobby, a middle–aged woman suddenly rushed toward me.
Her hand struck my cheek with a sharp c***k. She grabbed my collar, her face twisted with rage.
“You shameless mistress!” she shouted. “How dare you seduce my husband!”
