Chapter 94: Confrontation and Betrayal
Chapter 94: Confrontation and Betrayal
(Nathan Sterling’s POV)
I wiped the blood from my mouth, tasting copper on my tongue. The force of Marcus’s punch had caught me completely off guard.
“What are you trying to do, Marcus?” I demanded, struggling to my feet.
Marcus stood over me, his golden eyes blazing with fury. His tie was loosened, and a button on his shirt had come undone during our scuffle.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Sterling,” he snarled. “I know you’re holding Heidi Cross. You’ve been deliberately making it difficult to find her.”
My blood ran cold, How had he discovered that?
Elena stepped between us, her face pale with shock. “Stop this violence, Marcus! What’s wrong with you?
Marcus turned to her, his expression dark. “Do you feel sorry for Nathan Sterling?”
“I just don’t understand why you’re hitting him,” Elena replied, confusion evident in her voice.
I hesitated, knowing I was trapped “Elena, I can explain later-”
“There’s no need for explanations, Marcus cut me off sharply. “Your delay in releasing Heidi Cross shows you never intended to help David Blackthorne.”
(Elena’s POV)
My face went pale as the implications hit me. I turned to Nathan, searching his amber eyes for denial.
“Is this matter also related to you?” I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Nathan’s expression crumbled. “Elena, I can explain-”
“No!” I backed away from both of them, my chest heaving. “I trusted you! I thought you were helping us!”
The betrayal cut deeper than any physical wound. First Marcus, then Sophia, and now Nathan. Everyone I had
trusted had been manipulating me.
“I
I don’t trust anyone anymore!” I declared, tears streaming down my face. “Stay away from me!”
I turned and ran, ignoring their calls behind me. I needed to get away from both of them, from all the lies and
deception
(Marcus Blackwood’s POV)
Nathan confronted me as Elena disappeared around the corner. “Are you satisfied now?”
“You should be asking yourself that question,” I retorted coldly. “You knew about Elena’s relationship with met and deliberately approached her.”
“I didn’t deliberately approach her,” Nathan denied, but his voice lacked conviction
I scoffed “The Sterling family is used to taking advantage of others. It’s in your blood.”
Chapter 94: Confrontation
Nathan’s face flushed with anger. He grabbed my collar, his eyes blazing. The Blackwood family is no better! Your grandfather Elder Augustus Blackwood abandoned my grandmother Eleanor Sterling!”
His voice cracked with old pain. “He left her pregnant and unwed. She died in shame after giving birth to my mother Lillian Sterling!”
I calmly removed his hands from my collar, “My grandfather’s issues with the Sterling family are not my
concern.”
Nathan’s jaw tightened, but he released me. The weight of generations of hatred hung between us like a poisonous cloud.
I straightened my coat and walked toward my Shadow Moon Alpha’s Phantom Rolls–Royce. As I settled into the back seat, I instructed my security team through the intercom.
“Watch over Elena. Ensure her safety at all times.”
The driver nodded and started the engine. Through the tinted windows, I watched Nathan standing alone outside the memorial services, his shoulders slumped in defeat.
(Elena’s POV)
I wandered back to the empty Blackthorne Family Compound, my feet moving without conscious direction. The silence inside the house was deafening.
My family was truly gone. Patricia, Richard, and David in his vegetative state. The irony of fate struck me like a physical blow
Eight days. We
We had only eight days left until our planned departure as a family. Now I would leaving alone.
As I entered the familiar hallway, something hard struck the back of my head. Pain explodi ugh my skull, and darkness swallowed me whole.
When consciousness returned, I found myself tied to a large red bed. The silk bonds cut into my wrists, and I was dressed in an elaborate red wedding gown.
The door opened, and Vivian Blackthorne entered with a casual smile. “You’re awake. Good.”
“This is illegal,” I said, testing the strength of my bonds. “Forced mating is against pack law.”
Vivian laughed dismissively. The bride price has already been accepted. You should comply and avoid your mother’s unfortunate fate.”
My blood turned to ice. “What do you mean by that?”
Before she could answer, Matilda Blackthorne shuffled into the room. “Hurry up. The groom’s family has arrived.”
Vivian turned back to me with false/sweetness. “You should mate locally for support. Your husband may be older, but he has a house, land, and his father is a village official.”
“Bear him a male heir, and you’ll control the household,” she continued. “It’s a good arrangement.”
Rage gave me strength. I twisted my wrists until the silk bonds loosened enough for me to break free. Grabbing a fruit knife from the bedside table, I brandished it at both women.
“Stay back!” I shouted, my voice echoing off the walls.
Chapter 11 Confiontation
Matilda and Vivian retreated, fear replacing their earlier confidence.
“I have nothing left to lose,” I declared, the knife steady in my hand. “I’ll take you all down with me if I have to.”
Vivian tried to regain control. “Think about David Blackthorne. He needs y
you-
“Someone else will take care of him,” I cut her off. “Try to come near me again!”
Both women backed toward the door, their faces pale with terror.
“She’ll calm down,” Vivian whispered to Matilda as they retreated. “Give her time.”
Alone in the Blackthorne Captivity Chamber, I examined the windows. They were secured with heavy bars,
offering no escape route. I was trapped and isolated.
I sat on the bed, knife still in hand, and waited. Eventually, Vivian returned with a middle–aged couple.
Amy Mitchell scrutinized me with calculating eyes. “She’s beautiful,” she marveled. “Perfect for our Harold.”
Vivian nodded proudly. “This is indeed Richard Blackthorne’s daughter.”
Amy seemed satisfied despite my slight build. “She’s a bit thin, but we can nourish her properly.”
Vivian looked surprised by my sudden compliance. “She’s had a change of heart,” she explained to the couple. “Elena, meet your future in–laws.”
I looked at them coldly. “I want to see my so–called mate.”
They led me outside to the Blackthorne Family Courtyard, where Neighborhood Pack Members had prepared
a feast. The villagers fell silent when they saw me, whispering among themselves.
Is she really mating the family’s mentally challenged son?” someone murmured.
Vivian clarified my identity loudly. This is Richard Blackthorne’s daughter.”
Elder Tobias Hartwell shook his head in disbelief. “This situation is wrong.”
