The next morning, the clear sunshine streamed with all its warmth through the window into the room. Blanca rolled round and opened her eyes. She rubbed her sleep-clogged eyes and stretched. She felt dull aches in every part of her body. When she remembered what had happened last night, her cheeks were flushed.

She looked around and found Matthew wasn’t in the room. She felt a little let down. She had had sex with Matthew last night and it was kind of a big deal for her, but it looked like there was no difference to Matthew. The thought gave her no pleasure at all. When Blanca pulled away the cover and got up, she found bloodstain on the sheet. She stood frozen, bewildered.

“Are you awake?” said Matthew’s voice behind Blanca. She turned and saw Matthew standing in the doorway in a towel. Strands of thick black hair, still wet, stuck to his forehead. He was sexy now and his seriousness and arrogance were gone.

“Why aren’t you wearing clothes?” Blanca shut her eyes when she saw Matthew’s bare body. She had never seen him like this before.

“I just took a shower,” Matthew answered.

Blanca opened her eyes and was surprised to find Matthew looking strangely at her body. Blanca followed his gaze and looked down. Immediately, she blushed as red as a rose with shame, for there were several hickeys on her body. The pink hickeys were particularly obvious on her white skin. What happened last night was still so vivid to her. Her face went redder when she was thinking about it.

“You need to take a shower?” Matthew said. A smile touched his lips. He came near and teased in her ear, “Or we can do it again if you want.”

Blanca turned scarlet. She looked at Matthew, at the pink hickeys, then at the bloodstain on the sheet. She knew it was her virgin blood.

Blanca glared at Matthew, feeling her face go hot. She jumped out of bed and rushed into the bathroom. When she was showering, a gleeful smile spread across her face. It seemed she had already put the fear of being kidnapped behind her.

After she finished bathing and went to her bedroom, Blanca saw Mrs. Brown changing her sheet. She turned all red and embarrassed. “I’ll do that, Mrs. Brown,” she said.

“No, no, Mrs. Grant. You need more rest and I have cooked breakfast for you. You’d better go for breakfast.”
