In the past, when Nadine still cared about Brad, she might've been afraid. But now, she was determined to divorce him. She had already torn down all pretenses and no longer feared such threats.
Instead of feeling threatened by Victoria, Nadine flashed her a wicked smile. "Go ahead. If you do tell him, he'll probably divorce me as quickly as possible. Then, he'll make sure I walk away with nothing.
"I'd be more than happy about that. The only downside is that I won't have any money for you to extort."
Victoria had never liked Nadine, even when they were kids. After so many years, nothing had changed.
Back then, due to Jack's influence and Nadine being older, she never bothered to argue with Victoria.
But Victoria had grown into someone even more unruly. As such, Nadine saw no reason to indulge her anymore. After all, the best way to deal with a spoiled child was to make them feel the consequences.
Nadine was no longer as accommodating as she used to be. Victoria's plan was falling apart, and she grew furious. "Nadine, don't forget. If it weren't for my brother, you wouldn't be where you are today."
She continued, "I heard your man is pretty rich. Are you willing to give up such a good cash cow? I'm telling you againāgive me 500 thousand dollars, satisfy me, and I'll leave you alone. If you don't, I'll tell the whole world how you betrayed my brother. That'll ruin your reputation for sure."
But what Nadine didn't expect was Victoria to not only be doing something bad, but she wasn't even doing anything remotely decent.
Victoria had blown through the money, squandering it on food and drinks, and befriending a group of sycophantic people. Whatever those so-called "friends" of hers asked, she did. That was how she spent the entirety of the money Nadine had provided.
It was well known that Victoria and Sophie lived in a small town. 5 million dollars would have been enough for them to live comfortably for two lifetimes. But after just a few years, the money was already gone.
If Nadine didn't teach Victoria a lesson now, how would Victoria ever learn the consequences of her actions?
