Even the bitter cold couldn't slow her determination to get divorced. Hence, a few minutes later, Nadine stepped out into the cold, wrapped up in a white puffer jacket.
Naturally adverse to the cold, she wore both a hat and a scarf, leaving only her eyes exposed. Carrying a slightly oversized bag that could fit the divorce papers, she hailed a cab and headed straight to the address Sammy had sent her.
Nadine found it strange that the doorman and waiters were all exceptionally polite to her, as if someone had tipped them off beforehand. Without her needing to ask, someone led her straight to Brad's private room.
"Right this way, please, Ms. Scott." The waiter pushed the door open, gesturing for Nadine to go inside. When she noticed Brad sitting on the couch, looking completely dazed and out of it, she tightened her grip on her backpack and stepped into the private room.
To her surprise, Brad was the only one in the spacious private room. Sammy and Alex were nowhere to be seen. Even though she suspected Sammy had tricked her, she still walked toward Brad. After all, her goal was to get his signature while he was drunk.
Nadine unzipped her bag, pulling out the divorce papers along with the pen she had tucked with them. Worried the pen might not work, she tested it on a scrap of paper before approaching Brad.
Even though Brad was completely plastered, he still smiled at her when she approached him. "Nadine, is that you? You actually came? I knew you'd never leave me, not that easily."
With a sniffle and a pout, Brad looked incredibly childish. He looked exactly like Sean at this moment. The thought of her son made her heart melt a little.
Realizing he had sobered up a little, she continued, "No more nonsense, or I'll cover your mouth again! Also, I'll get mad—and trust me, if I'm angry, I'll leave you here on your own. Understand?"
His eyes were still glazed over as he nodded. His eyes then crinkled into a smile.
Realizing he was behaving, Nadine let go of his mouth and placed the pen in his hand. "Here, let's finish this game, and then I'll take you home."
