Unaware of the underlying tensions between Jean and Brad, Lynn found Brad's behavior perplexing. How could someone who had always loved Jean and spoiled her with the best of everything change so drastically all of a sudden?
Lynn's heart ached as she watched Jean collapse onto the bed, her hand pressed firmly against her chest. It hurt to see Jean in so much pain, and Lynn was worried her condition would deteriorate.
If Jean's condition took a turn for the worse, she might end up losing this job. She couldn't bear the thought of losing such a well-paying position.
What truly worried her was the thought that if Brad and Jean had a falling out, she'd never have the opportunity to lay eyes on that breathtakingly handsome man again.
Brad had always been like a distant star to her, someone she could only admire from afar. The idea of never seeing him again made her more anxious than anyone else.
"Don't lose heart, Ms. Sawyer. There's got to be a reason why he's acting this way. Don't cry. Let's figure this out together. Once we know why he acted that way, we can come up with a solution! You've got to find a way forward!"
Lynn wasn't well educated. Her family was poor and could only afford to send her brother to school. Had it not been for that, she wouldn't have started working at such a young age.
However, she was an avid reader and would immerse herself in books whenever she had a spare moment, so she managed to learn quite a lot on her own.
Jean, who had been clutching her chest in pain on the hospital bed, shot up as her words sank in. Her pained expression was replaced with fierce determination.
"You're right! Brad must've treated me so coldly because of that bitch! She stole my man six years ago, and now she's trying to do it again! I can't let her get away with this!"
With newfound determination, she no longer wallowed in despair. Clutching her chest, a fire sparked in her eyes.
For some reason, Clover Villa was brightly lit that night. Even at 10:30 pm, the lights were still turned on. The housekeepers were on edge, afraid that the lady of the house might be in a foul mood, and a careless mistake could cost them their jobs.
Daniel had already gone to bed, yet Evelyn was wide awake. Her conversation with her daughter had opened up a whole new world for her.
Gigi was right—Nadine was the apple of both Daniel's and Adam's eyes. If she wanted them to release Gigi, she'd have to seek that bitch out.
However, the thought of having to humble herself and ask for help from someone she considered beneath her was unbearable. It was more unbearable than getting slapped twice.
While she was hesitating, she received another message from Gigi. "Mom, have you made up your mind yet? I'm freezing to death here!"
