Please Give Me Another Chance, Mrs. Hamilton novel Chapter 571

In Nadine's mind, Brad had always been aloof and never bothered with anything he deemed unnecessary.

She believed that the only reason he had the gall to show up in front of her and say all these things, was because things weren't going so well with Jean. Unlike Jean, she wouldn't pamper him every step of the way.

"That's just how love works. People want what they can't have," she mused. Once he had Jean, the excitement faded. It no longer felt as special, and there was not much to look forward to anymore.

And as his happiness dwindled, he set out to find new prey. After living with Jean for a while, Brad must've realized that she wouldn't cater to his every need. After all, she only saw him as a walking ATM and never offered him any warmth or comfort. So, he abandoned his first love and came crawling back to Nadine.

Did he think she was still the same foolish young woman who was desperately in love with him? What a farce!

Brad had mustered up his courage to tell Nadine that he cared about her, but the response he received was far from ideal. Not only did he not get the response he'd hoped for, but she even mocked him, thinking he was only back because he couldn't find someone who treated him better than she did.

Her reaction left him feeling utterly dejected. After remaining silent for a few seconds, he looked into Nadine's eyes and explained solemnly, "I have no idea why you'd think that, but I can assure you that I've never had such thoughts. I'm not interested in finding someone new!

"From day one, I had no intention of divorcing you. Let's be fair, Nadine. You can't paint everyone with the same brush. I sincerely hope you'll reconsider."

A city couldn't be built in a day, and her heart did not just grow cold overnight. His constant favoritism toward Jean made Nadine feel suffocated, plunging her deeper into despair with each passing day.

When she finally summoned the courage to hand him the divorce agreement, no one knew just how empty she felt inside. Her heart had become a barren wasteland. So, his tiny bit of concern meant nothing now.

After hearing that, Brad fell silent. He had always known that she loved him and had assumed she would continue to do so, never considering the possibility that she might actually leave. It dawned on him then that she had already moved on.

Even though he desperately wanted to stress just how much he cared for Nadine, the look in her eyes made him swallow his words. At this point, no matter what he said, she wouldn't listen. It would just be a waste of breath.
