Nadine didn't think it was necessary to add Brad back as a friend. They had been married for six years, during which they were friends on Facebook, yet their conversations were entirely one-sided. She had done all the talking while he never replied.

Six years, and not once did Brad reply. So what good would it do to add him back now? Whenever she looked at their chat history, she felt like staring at her own pathetic self. Nadine had cast her pride aside for a man who couldn't even be bothered to respond to her messages.

The one-sided conversation in that chat box felt like an invisible knife, stabbing at her heart and leaving her in agony time and time again.

There was no reason to add him back as a friend. It would only remind her of how small she had once felt. She had put the past behind her and was working hard to forget the person who had hurt her the most. She believed that time would eventually heal the wounds in her heart.

Brad could see the resolve in her eyes, and it was clear she wanted nothing to do with him anymore. It felt as though an invisible hand was squeezing his heart, making it hard for him to breathe. He felt like he was suffocating.

He was aware that she hated him, but he didn't realize she hated him to this extent. Biting the inside of his cheek, he tried his best to suppress his anger and maintain his gentle demeanor.

"I know you're busy with work and your schedule is unpredictable, so it's hard for you to pick Sean up on time. Since that's the case, I'd like to pick him up in your stead.

"If we add each other on Facebook, I'd be able to let you know ahead of time when I'm going to pick him up. Then, you wouldn't have to make an unnecessary trip. I could've just messaged you today that I was picking Sean up, and we could have met somewhere else instead. Wouldn't that have been better?

"Thank you for taking us out to dinner tonight, Mr. Hamilton. I didn't intend for you to bear the cost, so let me reimburse you." After accepting Brad's friend request, she was about to transfer him the money.

However, he declined. "It's alright. If you really feel bad about it, why don't you treat me to a meal next time?"

He knew just how much Nadine disliked him. He had so much he wanted to tell her but couldn't. He felt like he needed to thank the heavens for being able to add her on Facebook and talk to her like a regular friend.

Nadine thought it over and nodded.
