The driver helped Brad into the car, and then drove back to Phoenix Villa. Brad remained silent in the backseat the whole time.

After Nadine returned home, it was only a matter of minutes before she received a notification from Sean's school.

The weekend's family activity required both parents to attend.

She silently read the message, set her phone aside, and walked toward her son's room.

Earlier that afternoon, she had been busy at the University of Janctera Medical School's exhibition hall and hadn't been able to pick up the little one herself. Instead, Adam had sent Travis to do it.

After picking him up, they had dinner together near the hospital.

Nadine had repeatedly reminded Adam not to let Sean eat fast food. However, Sean was still brought out to eat fried chicken and fries.

Sean's wishes had been fulfilled, so he was in a great mood. After being sent back to Rose Garden, he took a shower with Avery's help and was now sitting in his room playing with his building blocks.

The set had been a gift from Brad, equipped with a power source, allowing it to move once assembled. As such, he was particularly focused on his construction.

When he saw his mother walk in, however, he immediately put down his toys and rushed toward Nadine, exclaiming, "Mommy, you're back!"

He ran to hug her slender waist and smiled sweetly. "Did you have dinner? Are you hungry? It's raining outside, did you bring an umbrella?"

As he spoke, he raised his small hand to touch Nadine's clothes, confirming that they were not damp from the rain, which made him satisfied.

As for Brad, she would just let him be. He could do whatever he wanted to do. She chose to just give up on him altogether.

Avery eventually heard that Nadine hadn't eaten dinner yet, and she found Nadine preparing a quick meal in the kitchen.

She was particularly bad at cooking and had no talent for it, so Avery decided not to waste food. Instead, she helped with the washing and cutting of vegetables, leaving the cooking to Nadine.

After making sure Sean wasn't around, Avery asked, "I saw Brad's car in front of the apartment just now. What happened? Have the two of you made up?"

In truth, if her best friend decided to make up with Brad, Avery wouldn't object. She would only ask Nadine if she was able to forget the pain she experienced when she loved him.

Nadine replied, "Brad doesn't want to divorce me, and he's instructed me to not bring it up again. But my heart is already dead now."
