Please Give Me Another Chance, Mrs. Hamilton novel Chapter 622

"Mr. Gentry, you might not know this, but Brad never answers my calls. He only answers Jean's. Reaching him is almost tougher than scaling a peak. Why don't we bring Jean over and have her call him instead? I guarantee he'll come running right away!"

In the six years she'd been married to Brad, the one thing Nadine had learned was to never rely on a man. No matter what happened, she always had to face it alone.

Her husband, Brad, was nothing more than a useless ornament in her life. Now that she was staring death in the face, she certainly wasn't going to gamble her survival on him.

David swung the knife he held and jabbed it at her neck. "I don't care! You're going to call Brad right now! If you won't do it, give me your phone. I'll do it myself! Either you call him, or I'll stab you!"

The knife's edge broke the surface of her skin, and an intense, sharp pain flooded her senses, leaving Nadine's mind blank. With no other option, she pulled out her phone and dialed Brad's number.

In truth, she didn't expect Brad to answer at all. All she wanted was to call the cops. However, David was standing right behind her, watching her every move. To avoid provoking him, she felt she had no choice but to comply.

Still, deep down, Nadine did not expect Brad to come through.

The phone rang, and she felt her breathing quicken with anxiety. Would Brad pick up? As her unease deepened, the call connected, and Brad's melodious voice came through. "What's going on, Nadine?"

As soon as the call went through, Nadine felt her heart, which had been in her throat, settle. She was about to speak up when David pressed the speakerphone button and yelled into the phone, "I have your wife! If you don't want her dead, you better prepare four million dollars in cash! Not a cent less!"

The gentle smile on Brad's face vanished as soon as he heard that. His expression darkened, but he didn't let on that the news had rattled him.

He took a moment to gather his thoughts and hurriedly asked, "Oh, really? You've got my wife, do you? Can I hear her voice first? If you want money, that's not an issue—I've got plenty! But I need to make sure this isn't some kind of prank call."

Upon hearing Brad's willingness to cooperate, David urged Nadine to speak up. "Go on! Tell him you're with me! Tell him to get the money ready!"
