After making arrangements for Sophie's funeral, Nadine fell sick.

Physically, there wasn't anything wrong with her. However, she was dispirited and walked around thinking that life was meaningless. Her legs were heavy, and every step she took seemed to drain all of her strength. She seemed to be living as a zombie would.

Seeing her like this, Sebastian carried her into the hospital's examination room. On their way there, they passed by Evelyn and Jean.

Seeing Nadine carried by Sebastian, Jean was very pleased. She took a photo and smirked as she did.

She asked Evelyn, "Mrs. Hamilton, aren't you going to do something about Nadine being all cozy with another man?"

She wondered what Brad would think of Nadine if he saw the photo.

Evelyn paused and looked in Sebastian's direction. After confirming that it was indeed Nadine in his arms, she said, "A photo like that doesn't mean anything. Both of them are fully clothed, and they are at the hospital, so no one would question their motives.

"If I were you, I would think of something to get the both of them naked in the same place, then catch them red-handed. Do you really think you can pin something on Nadine with that meager photo?"

Evelyn had always looked down on Jean. The latter clearly had a trump card in her hands, but she had messed up superbly. If Jean had any common sense to begin with, she wouldn't have ended up in this situation.

Not knowing what Evelyn was thinking, Jean was determined to succeed. Her eyes crinkled with joy.

Evelyn looked at the photo taken by Jean with disdain. "With that little trick of yours, do you think you can accomplish anything?"

After Jean heard Evelyn's words, her smile waned. "What do you mean by that? It's fine if you're not going to help, but you don't have to be so sarcastic. You're my mom. If I don't have it easy, you won't either."

At this moment, Brad had been moved from the ICU to a general ward. Since the Hamilton family was both renowned and wealthy, Brad was placed in the VIP ward.

When Brad opened his eyes to find Daniel staring back at him, he asked, "Dad, where is Nadine? Why isn't she here?"

Before Brad was pushed into the operating room, he and Nadine were having a serene moment. As soon as Evelyn came with Jean, the former drove Nadine away.

If he wasn't so weak and unable to get out of bed, he would have gotten up and gone to look for Nadine himself.

Daniel had no idea what had happened. Seeing Brad's pale face, Daniel gently pushed him onto the bed and said, "Nadine has something to take care of. Just focus on getting better for now. We'll talk about the rest when you're better."
