For more than six years, Nadine had never once thought about looking for Sean's biological father.

From her perspective, a man who could be so irresponsible as to do that to her and then disappear without a trace was nothing but a douchebag. So what if he came looking for Sean? There was no way such an irresponsible jerk could be good for either of them.

Besides, she was capable of taking care of themselves. Since she decided to have Sean, she was confident she could raise him well. Even without a father, she could give Sean all the love he needed. After tucking the samples safely away, Nadine went home to get a few strands of Sean's hair and took them to the paternity testing center. To keep things confidential, she didn't use her real name and instead made up a common name for the registration.

When she left the paternity testing center, she made a point to look around to ensure she wasn't being followed before heading back to work at the hospital. However, her heart was no longer at peace like it used to be.
