Cameron was here on Brad's orders to deliver something to Nadine. He smiled as he walked up to her, pulling out a brown paper bag and handing it to her. "I'm here on behalf of Mr. Hamilton to deliver this to you. He insisted that I hand it to you personally, Mrs. Hamilton."
The title grated on her ears. Nadine's expression hardened as she responded, "Please don't call me that anymore. I won't be Brad's wife for much longer. Call me Nadine or Nad instead. If you don't, we won't be friends anymore!"
That title belonged to Brad's wife, not her.
After seeing her fierce expression, Cameron pretended to be afraid. "Alright, Mrs. Hamilton. I understand. Why don't you take a look inside the bag first?"
Nadine didn't waste any time. She opened the folder and noticed an off-white divorce certificate inside. The words embossed in gold hit her like a ton of bricks, and her eyes widened in disbelief in an instant.
While she was still grappling with why Brad hadn't gone through with the divorce, he had someone deliver the divorce certificate to her.
Logically speaking, after months of turmoil, this divorce should bring her joy. After all, it was what she wanted. However, she couldn't bring herself to smile. Staring at the divorce certificate, she felt lost.
Cameron was surprised to find that he was delivering Nadine a divorce certificate. His eyes went wide with shock, but he hastily regained his composure and snatched the certificate from her hands. "This must be a mistake! I'll take it back to Mr. Hamilton right away!"
"Mr. Hamilton isn't cold-hearted. He's just reserved and doesn't talk much. But I can assure you that his feelings for you are genuine."
Cameron was about to continue, but Nadine raised her hand and stopped him. She snatched the divorce certificate from his hands and smiled softly at him. "Thank you for telling me all that, Mr. Gomez. But I don't want to hear anymore."
She didn't want to hear about anything related to Brad anymore. The best way to forget someone was to find someone new. As long as the new flame was good enough, there was no reason to cling to the old one.
For the past six months, she had been waiting for Brad to hand her the divorce certificate, and now that her wish had finally come true, why would she be anything but happy? Nadine had no idea why there was a dull ache in her chest.
