Nadine's tone was as robotic as her smile, and Brad couldn't help but frown. "Wipe that fake smile off your face!" he snapped.

He'd seen the photos of Nadine and Jack. Her smiles in those stills were so radiant, so full of life. Compared to that, the smile she wore now was as fake as it could be.

Having seen her sincere and sweet smile before, Brad couldn't stand her practiced, professional smile. He couldn't shake the feeling that she wore a different mask with him than she did with everyone else.

The thing that bothered him most was how unbearably fake her smile was when aimed at him. It was so fake that it made his blood boil.

Nadine didn't want to argue with someone as paranoid as Brad, so when he told her not to smile, she simply stopped. She tilted her head slightly, staring lazily at the ground, giving off an air of nonchalance.

She could read Brad like a book. His gaze made it clear he was itching to pick a fight. But she couldn't be bothered to argue with him or listen to his complaints. Thus, she kept quiet, focusing intently on her feet and treating him like he didn't exist.

Her complete disregard was like fuel to his fire. He was so angry that he wanted to rip her apart. The thing that really irked him was the way she was acting as if he wasn't even there.

He cleared his throat to draw her attention, but to his surprise, she didn't even lift her gaze. She continued to stare at the ground, as if looking at him would give her nightmares.

At that moment, his anger erupted. "Am I your patient or not?" he demanded through gritted teeth.

Even though he was boiling with anger on the inside, his expression remained composed. Nadine could see right through him, though. This jerk was just trying to make things difficult for her. He was as petty as they came!

Still, the customer always came first. Since he wasn't pleased, she had no choice but to put up with him. "Hold on, Mr. Hamilton. I'll get the equipment right away."

Back when she worked as a nurse, she'd used these devices before and was quite proficient with them. Hence, she didn't have any trouble taking Brad's measurements, and she expertly used her skills to shut him up.
