Nadine didn't particularly dislike Zara, nor did she mind her pursuing Brad. In fact, she secretly hoped Zara would succeed. That way, Brad would stop pestering her, and she'd never have to see him again.
However, Zara had crossed a line. Nadine couldn't believe that she would seduce Brad right in front of her during working hours.
As a medical professional, Zara's job was to focus on her patients, not prance around in front of them like a peacock. Such behavior did nothing but tarnish the reputation of healthcare workers. Hence, Nadine couldn't hold her tongue any longer.
Zara didn't take Nadine's sharp criticism to heart at all. "Why are you making such a big deal out of this, Nadine? I'm doing you a favor by dealing with this problem for you, aren't I?"
Zara was well aware that Nadine wanted nothing to do with Brad and was desperate to shake him off. That was exactly why she insisted on staying in his room. She figured that Nadine would eventually give her an opening to win Brad over.
But things hadn't gone as Zara had hoped. Ultimately, the first person to call her out wasn't Brad or anyone else—it was Nadine! That really grated on her nerves.
"I know you don't like him, Nadine, and I'm trying to help you out. The least you could do is thank me instead of tearing into me. Don't you feel even a little guilty for being so ungrateful?"
In reality, Zara intended to take things further with Brad that very day. Hence, she was armed with drugs when she walked into the hospital room.
The head nurse quickly pieced together what had happened. Noticing the rising tension between Zara and Nadine, she called for housekeeping to clean up the mess and asked Seraphina to sort things out.
When Seraphina arrived and got the full picture, she immediately called Zara out for a scolding. In the end, Nadine was left alone in the room with Brad.
She felt so weak that she couldn't even stand properly. If Brad hadn't caught her just in time, she would have collapsed to the floor. Worse still, there was a gnawing emptiness inside her, a hunger she couldn't ignore—a desperate need to be filled.
