How Zara wished she could peek into Brad's ward to see what was happening.
Yet, the hospital security guards were standing right behind her, keeping track of her every move. They wouldn't give her a chance to leave the office. Instead, they kept urging her to pack her things.
After bursting into a fit of tears, Zara reluctantly packed her things and left the office with a sullen expression.
Once she exited the hospital, the guards no longer trailed after her. She continued her journey for a while. As soon as she confirmed that no one was following her, she whisked out her phone and dialed a number.
"It's me! I was fired by Harborview Hospital. It was Brad who got me fired, and Seraphina is completely ignoring me. Hurry up and help me out!
"Why did I get fired? It's all because of Nadine! She stole my work, and she's currently banging Brad in the hospital room. She told him to fire me!
"Was the drug you gave me effective or not? Why isn't it working after I've been using it for so long?
"You gave the drug to Jean before? Are you trying to sabotage me? Since she's used it before, Brad will definitely be suspicious of me if I use the same drug again!
"I don't care! I want a refund for the last time. Hurry up and figure out a way for me to return to Seraphina's side!"
Zara hung up after throwing a fit. Realizing that she resembled a lone ghost on the busy street, she immediately broke into tears and muttered, "Just you wait, Nadine. I won't let you off the hook easily!"
…
The sun had set. The horizon appeared as if it were ablaze, casting a warm crimson hue throughout the hospital room.
After an intense, exhausting round of sex, Nadine slowly regained consciousness. Her entire body felt as though it had been run over by a truck; even her bones ached. The soreness between her legs was especially unbearable, and even the slightest movement sent a jolt of sharp pain through her.
She flushed, jerking her head aside to avoid looking at him.
"Brad, you've gone too far!" she gritted out. "How could you take advantage of me? You knew I was drugged, yet you…"
She couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence as the words caught in her throat.
Ever since their divorce, Nadine had resolved to steer clear of Brad, ensuring their paths would never cross again.
But fate loved to toy with her. It had somehow thrown her and him back into the same bed again, doing what only lovers would do.
