irst pondered for a moment before speaking, “Dad, actually…”
“Actually what?” Hugo asked.
First wanted to say something, but held back at the last moment.

After thinking for a bit, he said, “Nothing. Once you find Scarlett and come back, we’ll discuss it in detail. I promise you, there won’t be any activity from the Dark Web during this time!”
Hugo listened, paused for a moment, and then replied, “Alright.”
“Take care, Dad!”
“You too, be good and take care of your great–grandfather and great–great–grandfather at home!” Hugo said.
“Got it!”
After the call ended, Tara and Second both looked at him.
“Is Dad getting suspicious?” Second asked.
“I don’t know…” First shook his head, “It feels like he’s testing me, or maybe just probing… It’s hard to guess what Dad is
thinking.”
At this point, Tara, curled up on the couch, looked up and remarked sarcastically, “Well, everyone in the Hodges family seems to have a million thoughts swirling around. Even a simple conversation goes in circles, hard to figure out!”
First glanced at her, “It’s all thanks to you. If you had been clearer from the start, I wouldn’t have had to hack into their system and get caught by Dad!”
“So, next time, don’t be so impulsive!” Tara said.
“…Well, then do me a favor and say everything clearly next time!”
Tara raised an eyebrow, maintaining her usual carefree demeanor, and smiled slightly as she replied, “I’ll do my best.”
After their playful banter, Second spoke up, “I overheard Dad mention the anonymous person on the phone… How does he know about them, and how does he know they’ve joined the Dark Web?”
“Didn’t Tara just say that? The top twenty people are all on DX. It’s not surprising someone recognized my moves, and Kun has been close to me, so this news has been spreading like wildfire,” First explained.
“So, does that mean Dad suspects you?” Second asked.
“Not necessarily. Maybe he’s just trying to use me to communicate with the Dark Web, and doesn’t actually know it’s me!”
Second nodded, “Makes sense, but I think this won’t stay hidden for long.”
“True, if Dad wasn’t so focused on finding Scarlett and didn’t ask more questions, he might have figured it out by now. But it worked out in our favor. We got to come along, and as long as we find Scarlett, I don’t mind coming clean!” First said.
Second nodded.
At that moment, Tara spoke up softly, “When the time comes, you won’t have a choice but to confess. Otherwise, how will

you come back with me to the Dark Web?”
Hearing this, First looked up at her, his eyes filled with helplessness. “Can’t you just let things be?”
Tara chuckled, “I’m just giving you a friendly reminder!”
With that, she popped a cherry into her mouth.
Mmm, so sweet!

Meanwhile, at an outdoor restaurant.
When Hugo returned from his phone call, he saw Ray chatting with a woman.
As he approached, the woman left.
Hugo teased, “Why’d she leave? I could have given up my seat!”
“Women can’t compare to a brother,” Ray replied.
Hugo smiled and glanced around. “What made you choose this place?”
“Doesn’t it look familiar?” Ray asked.
Hugo took another look around, feeling a hint of recognition.
“This is where we first met, remember?” Ray reminded him.
Hugo finally took a good look around and said, “You mean this used to be a bar street?”
Ray nodded, “Doesn’t it look different now?”
“It’s completely different now,” Hugo said.
“Yeah, the changes here over the past few years have been huge. This place transformed from a rundown bar street into high–end restaurants. It’s undeniable progress, almost like a leap forward,” Ray replied.
Hugo glanced around, and memories from the past flooded his mind.
Thinking back to those times, Hugo’s lips curled into a smile. It was true, those years were lived on the edge, dangerous but far more straightforward than now.
Back then, it was all about real battles with real weapons, unlike today, where technology dominates and even fights can
be smoke–free.
“Feels like it was just yesterday,” Ray said, gazing into the distance.
Hugo chuckled, agreeing, “Yeah.”
Ray looked at him, “Ever regret it?”
At this, Hugo’s smile widened, his gaze drifting far away.
From the open balcony, the stars were visible in the night sky.
After a long pause, he spoke, “Nothing to regret. Life’s meant to be full of experiences.”

Ray couldn’t tell if he was being truthful or if there was a mix of truth and lies.
It was both a regret and a fulfillment.

Ray stood up, patting Hugo on the shoulder, “I’m gonna hit the restroom.” With that, he got up and walked away.
Hugo took a sip of his beer, staring off into the distance, a mix of emotions swirling inside him.
Meanwhile, over on Ray’s side.
As he emerged from the restroom, a child in the restaurant was running around and fell, bursting into tears.
Just then, a woman walked over and helped the child up.
“Are you okay?” she asked gently.
The child glanced at her, mumbled something, and then ran off.
The woman watched, a small smile playing on her lips, before she stood up.
As she turned around, Ray caught sight of her, momentarily stunned.
Though he was of mixed heritage, he had a deep appreciation for the beauty of Eastern women.
The woman before him was nothing short of extraordinary, with a slender figure, skin like porcelain, and long, dark hair cascading like a cloud over her shoulders. She exuded a cool, ethereal beauty.
Just standing there, she was a sight to behold.
Perhaps his gaze was too obvious, as she looked over with a hint of coolness in her exquisite eyes.
After a brief moment of eye contact, she turned and left without a word.
It wasn’t until she was gone that Ray snapped back to reality. When he looked back, she had already disappeared.
Ray furrowed his brow, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
Without lingering, he headed back.
Hugo had nearly finished his drink and noticed Ray’s return. “What took you so long?” he asked.
Ray chuckled, “Just met a…beauty over there!” he said.
“You’re having quite the night of encounters, aren’t you?”
“No, no, no, this isn’t just an encounter. She’s different from the others,” Ray insisted.
Hugo smiled, not taking it seriously at all. “You always say that.”
“This time, it’s really different,” Ray replied.
“I’ve heard that countless times before!”
Ray was speechless.
The two of them chatted as they walked, then got into the car.
Ray was driving when Hugo started gently stroking his phone’s screensaver with his thumb.

Ray glanced at the photo on the screensaver. “Thinking about your girlfriend again?” he asked.
Hugo remained silent.
“What kind of person could have you so captivated?” Ray leaned over to take a closer look, and when he saw the photo on
he screensaver, he was stunned.
