Parker’s face went completely pale.
No way.
He stared at Lydia, his voice shaking. “You… how did you…”
How had she managed to recover something he’d deleted for good?
Jimmy knew what he was doing. He’d installed software on the phone specifically to erase things forever, just in case anyone tried to bring back deleted files.
So how did Lydia pull it off?
Lydia stared at him, her eyes clear and cold, not a hint of warmth in her voice. “This is what you meant when you said you just wanted to talk?”
Byron shot Parker a furious glare. “Scum! This is so disgusting! I can’t believe you are still trying to act innocent.”
He was right. Sending over twenty men to hurt a girl, then planning to sell her off afterward?
It was beyond cruel. Unforgivable.
If Lydia hadn’t been the one they targeted tonight, or if she didn’t know how to fight, their sick plan might have actually worked.
Parker looked defeated.
It was over. He knew it.
At that moment, a police officer walked in and reported to Byron, “Captain, we found seventeen bank cards. The banks confirmed there’s about four hundred seventy-three million combined, and there’s another ten million in cash in the car.”
Hearing that, Parker seemed to lose all strength and collapsed into his chair, completely drained.

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
