“It’s really no trouble at all.”
Even if she didn’t visit often, everything would be ready for her the next time she showed up.
Lydia felt a gentle warmth in her chest. He was so thoughtful.
“By the way, Grandpa Samuel mentioned you weren’t feeling well. Is there something going on?”
Lydia figured that if Connor was willing to search for someone like Miracle Hands, it had to be serious.
Connor didn’t expect her to ask so directly. He hesitated, then smiled. “It’s nothing, really. Grandpa’s just worrying too much.”
Earlier, he’d gotten a message from Aiden. Miracle Hands had been found, and they had agreed to see him.
Maybe only Miracle Hands could fix what was wrong.
It was not like Connor didn’t trust Lydia. He just worried that if she couldn’t help, she might start doubting herself. He hated to see her feel any extra pressure.
Lydia seemed to pick up on what he was thinking. Since he clearly didn’t want to talk about it, she simply nodded. “Alright. If you ever need my help, just say the word.”
Something about that made Connor’s heart skip. He stepped closer, his voice low and warm. “I need you to spend more time with me when you can.”
Lydia’s cheeks turned pink. She took a half step back. “It’s getting late. I should head to the hospital and get ready for my shift.”
She’d already told Josef at the office that she’d come by tomorrow.
“I’ll drive you.”
Connor wanted to keep her around just a little longer, but he knew she was busy. Plus, having Lucinda hanging nearby was ruining the mood.
“Okay.”
Chris spotted Connor and Lydia walking back from the lotus pond and hurried over, arms loaded with snacks.
“You have to try all of these.”
Lydia blinked in surprise. There was so much, she’d never finish it all.
