[Chief Lydia cured my back pain that had bothered me for years.]
[She even fixed my health issues. I was about to have surgery, but she saved me. Honestly, she’s a miracle worker.]
[I heard a bunch of fans already called the police. I hope the officers head up the mountain soon to look for Chief Lydia.]
With everyone so worried, the internet exploded overnight. Tons of influencers started posting videos, spreading rumors that she’d fallen off a cliff and vanished, all so they could ride the wave of attention.
Lydia couldn’t help but feel helpless about it all.
She was just doing what she always did. Whenever she went up the mountain to gather herbs, she liked to livestream and explain the different plants and their uses to her followers.
If she hadn’t run into that unlucky guy last night, none of this would have happened.
Thinking about it, she scrolled through the comments and replied to the top one. “I’m okay. Thanks for your concern. It’s really me.”
Right after hitting send, her phone rang again. The caller ID read “Ethan.”
She answered immediately. Ethan sounded like he was about to lose it. “Lydia, you finally picked up! I was starting to think I’d have to call the cops to find you.”
Lydia gave a small laugh. “I’m fine. What’s going on?”
Ethan went straight into business. “That’s a relief. We just landed an order from a VIP client. They want a hundred bags, kind of like the LJ98 all-black series, but every single one needs to be different. Lydia, there’s no way we have that many in stock. Please, could you sketch out some new designs for us? The client only gave us three days. We can’t mess this up.”
Lydia said, “Got it.”
“Oh, and Lydia, you promised me the AW collection sketches. Still waiting on those, by the way.”
“I know. I’ll get them to you soon.”
Ethan hung up, and before Lydia could even put her phone down, it lit up with another call. This time it was “Juna.”
Lydia frowned. “Digging into what?”
Juna clicked her tongue. “You tell me. What did you do to catch his attention? He’s actually paid all four of the top info brokers on the dark web just to figure out who Chief Lydia really is. Anyway, I passed along the message. Good luck dealing with it.”
After the call, Lydia sat there lost in thought. Connor Jefferson was investigating her identity? Could he be the guy she rescued last night on Highridge?
Her guess was right. At this very moment, Connor already knew it was Chief Lydia who saved him.
He leaned against the pillows on his hospital bed, his face striking but pale. He was scrolling through the Chief Lydia account on his tablet.
His assistant, Aiden, stood at the foot of the bed, giving a respectful report. “Sir, I stumbled on the news that Chief Lydia went missing in the mountains. When I saw the details, I realized the place was Highridge, and the timing matches exactly with when she rescued you last night.
Her real identity is very well hidden. I haven’t found anything yet. But as you asked, I’ve already hired the top four intelligence agents on the dark web to look into her. I’m sure we’ll hear something soon.”

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
