Everyone in the group chat was quick to agree.
[Yeah, I had no idea Lydia was that amazing. We really owe her an apology.]
[I sit next to Lydia in class. Before finals, she even told me to study hard. I actually made fun of her... turns out she’s a total genius. I feel terrible.]
[I can’t believe we’ve been classmates with a super genius this whole time.]
Thomas tagged everyone again. [Let me see if I can get Lydia to join us. If she says yes, we should hold a meeting to apologize to her in person.]
[Great idea. I’m in.]
[Me too.]
[Count me in, all the way!]
Lydia’s post calling everyone out was all over campus, and it stirred up so much buzz that even the admissions teams from big-name schools like Oakwood College started calling her again. They practically begged her to consider their schools, hinting that she could even attend two universities at once if she wanted.
But Lydia already had enough going on. She was only headed to Capital Med School for the lab equipment. There was no way she had time for anything else.
Across from her, Connor watched as Lydia ate lunch, her fingers flying over the laptop keyboard. He couldn’t help feeling a little nervous. She was so young and so brilliant. What if she thought he was too old for her?
“Lydia,” he said quietly.
“Hmm?” she replied, not even glancing up, her dark eyes still glued to the screen while she typed.
“When are you going to make things official with me?” Connor’s voice was soft, but there was a hint of urgency. He didn’t want anyone else to swoop in and steal her away.
Lydia hadn’t expected that question. She finally paused and looked up at him, surprised. “Why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
